There’s a storm raging in Eerie-on-Sea. Has the mighty Gargantis come back from the deep…?
When an ancient bottle is found washed up on the beach after a ferocious electrical storm, all the residents of Eerie-on-Sea seem to want it … but should they in fact fear it? Legend has it that the bottle contains an extraordinary secret that spells doom for the whole of Eerie-on-Sea. Could it be true that the vast sea creature Gargantis has awoken from her slumbers, and is causing the large cracks that are appearing all across the town? Finding themselves entrusted with the bottle, Herbie and Violet discover they will need to ride the terrible storm and pacify the creature if they want to save Eerie-on-Sea from sliding into the ocean and being lost for ever.

did not really like the storm in it
another wonderful adventure from Thomas Taylor, following the tales of Herbie and violet. a bit more about each of their history is discovered and some of the Eearie on Sea characters are back! just when you thought it was safe!
I can't believe that Deep Hood is Sebastian Eels.
It was a good book for people who like adventures near the sea. It had a surprising ending.
Really interesting and exciting book to read with lots of twists and turns. It refers back to the first book so helpful if you have read it already. An adventure and mystery book built with suspense. A lovely read.
I really like this book because it is mysterious. One of my favourite characters is Violet Palmer because she is so adventurous, brave, kind and persistent. I would recommend this to my friends .
Very good but not very funny
My favourite person was Deep Hood as he was the only evil character in the story and he was revived into a monster and was a character in the previous book.
I would recommend this book and the previous one also.
I really enjoyed it.
My favourite characters where Herbert Lemon and Violet Palma.
I would Highly recommend this book.
It was fiction horror story. My favourite character was Violet Parma, a very enthusiastic young girl who was an orphan. She was very brave and defended her best friend when he was accused of being a traitor.
I would recommend it to readers who like adventure, fantasy and horror stories.
It is a great book and always keeps you entertained and curious about what you are going to read. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like books with action in.
A vicious storm is raging.
When a mysterious clockwork shell is handed into the Grand Nautelus Hotel, Herbie and Violet don't know what to think. They're still not certain, when a fish shaped bottle is washed into the town. When they find a magical SPRIGHTENING in that bottle, they don't realise that it is about to set them into deadly peril. And at the centre of this plot is a mysterious betentecled stranger. Who is he? The answer lies in the jaws of the Gargantis.
A fantastic sequel to Malamander! Intrigue, mysteries aplenty and wonderful characters.
Every bit a modern adventure.
I like the teeny Sprigthning best because she can shoot little sparks and came to the rescue a few times.
Another fabulous book by Thomas Taylor.
Filled with wonderful adventures, friendships and over coming things we are afraid of.
Thomas Taylor is a great author. His writing and use of words take you into the story as if you are watching it all happen. He is becoming one of my favourite reads!
In this book, a mysterious creature checked in to a hotel and 2 people uncovered a lot of mysteries and even discovered a lost friend.
Can't wait to read number 3! Action, adventure and fantastic characters.
- Liked the mystery and how they had to find clues
- Liked the part when the creature escaped and couldn't be found
- Would recommend to a friend
This book I think is a Non-Fiction book because the illustrations are not that real in my opinion and I liked all the characters in this story it is kind of Factual but I'm not sure I don't know how it interested mean I don't know if I want to recommend it to someone else.
I liked the book, because it had a chapter where they tell you something important at the end and then they go onto another chapter, so you want to read another chapter. I don't like the parts where they are on the boat, because it is a bit boring and all they do is talk about how to fix the boat and it isn't really part of the mystery. I also like it when a bad person tells the main character something that is also important. (But in the next book someone else says it isn't true.)
A great follow-up to Malamander. Definitely a series to grab readers. Bought a set for the school library with book club funds.
Got this for Christmas and started reading it right away. Loved the first book too The Malamander. Can't wait to read the next one too. The concept of the story is amazing and it is full of twists. It's amazing.
This book was packed of exciting adventures and daring quests. It tested friendship and trust. This book is simply a great book!
It was a fictional story about the adventures of Herbert and Violet in Eerie-on-sea. They had to be detectives and solve strange events. I would recommend it.
I would have never thought that a giant sea monster would not harm anyone. Although I would rather go on adventures with Herbie and Violet.
I loved re-reading this book again as it was funny, gripping and very atmospheric.
Love the characters and I desperately want to know Herbie’s story. Lots of twists and turns and excitement in this second visit to Eerie-on-Sea. I enjoyed meeting Lady Kraken again and finding out more about her. Looking forward to book 3!
I love this book for the mysterys and plot twists and how everything is not what it seems and also gaining more insight on Herbert Lemon past and how it will affect the characters.
The second in the Eerie-on-Sea series was at least as good as the first. The vivid description and lovable characters make this book a very fine read indeed.
