This book took a little while to get into and at times was very sad and dark. But by the last few chapters the book came alive. The magic in the forest was a true delight to read. The characters were a lovely bunch and Nim and Nibbles were true heroes.
Interesting ideas. Orphans, a bad factory owner and a missing mother will keep your Year 4s interested. Well written and some interesting phrasing worth magpieing in writing lessons.
Enjoyed this book and think it would be great for UKS2. Slow start and slow to build but had a good ending. Includes lots of classic fairy tale plots such as a giant who lives in a shoe, a witch who captures the characters and tries to eat them, wolves and a pied piper character.
