A brilliantly topical and delightfully funny picture book from internationally bestselling author M.G. Leonard, which shows children what happens to their plastic toothbrushes after they’re thrown away.
Children use their toothbrush each morning and evening, and get new ones every few months. That’s billions of toothbrushes! What happens to them all when they’re no longer needed? And if toothbrushes take thousands of years to break down, what does that mean for our planet?
With a fun cast of plastic characters, from pirate-ship bottles to dancing shampoos, and even an inquisitive albatross, The Tale of a Toothbrush is a positive and heart-warming story to help children explore the impact their choices have on our planet.

I liked how many adventures the toothbrush had. It taught me that we litter too much in the sea.
It is about a toothbrush
This story was good at raising awareness of plastic in the oceans.
Great story about plastic
We must save our planet earth.
we must brush pour teeth daily two times.
We must reduce and recycle.
Because it tells us how to look after the planet with plastic
Yes
I liked it because the toothbrush got in the beak of an albatros.
I’d recommend this book to my friends.
I am sad about plastic in oceans and poor creatures
Sammy was my favourite
I want to hear that again
It was good that sammy got home
It was a fiction story. But i learned to recycle every single thing i have that is plastic when i've used any of the things i have used.
This was a good story and a good lesson about plastic and the environment.
This book was a great way to help children understand the impact of plastic within our oceans. Follow Sammy the toothbrush as he travels round the world. With beautiful illustrations to help bring the book to life.
Really liked this book, good story about toothbrush travelling around sand amazing pictures.
When Sophie drew the ‘s’ on the toothbrush
I liked Sofias hairstyle with 2 buns. the toothbrush was very happy when it was new,but when he was in the boat, the rat helped him back to Sofias house.
The tooth brush went into a river
Once someone throws them away I like the face they can come back to someone they love
I enjoyed this book because it tells you all about the plastic toothbrush and what it does to the planet
I like this story because it helps us learn about the plastic wastes in our oceans and if we don't throw plastics away the sea creatures will be fine.
We used about 300 toothbrushes in our lifetimes. That's a lot of plastic wastes. So I will start using bamboo toothbrush.
I liked what I read it is about a tooth brush that gets chucked in the bin goes on an adventure and sees his friend again
I liked how the characters helped the toothbrush get home
I really liked this book and i learnt how the plastic we throw away is hurting the animals. I will be more careful and be better at recycling
I really liked all the different ideas Sophie came up with, to reuse her old toothbrush, instead of throwing it away. Although it might seem silly, I thought it was quite funny to name a toothbrush (Sammy). Sammy went on a huge journey, which showed the reader how some of our rubbish can end up harming our environment. I would probably recommend it to some of my friends, but maybe best for age 3 to 6.
It was a good book about rubbish and recycling
This book provides ample opportunities for discussion and links to current news topics, encouraging children to understand their role in the world and and simple changes they can make to give a positive impact. The teacher notes provide detailed discussion points and activities.
It made me think more about which products I should buy that are good for the world.
I am passionate about less plastic being in the ocean.
