Good. Interesting.
This book reminds me of my cousin who is also called asiya and wears a scarf
My favourite character is Asiya. The sisters have a really close bond and are proud of each other. I liked it when they ran off into the sunset.
The little sister was so proud of her big sister because she was beautiful and she wanted to be bigger and wear a hijab like her. Everyone should be kind to people even if they look different or you don't understand why they are wearing a hijab. A boy said to her why are you wearing a tablecloth on your head and that was really rude to say that.
A very nice story about Asia's first time wearing a hijab!
My favourite character is faizah (Asiyah's sister) because she's always there for Asiyah
I really like this story. It tells how to be brave and strong by igonring other comments.
Beautifully written and illustrated story. Wish I'd had this in my class for a child last year. Lovevthe connection between the sisters and the mums comments raise an awareness of how cruel some people can be. The fact its a true story adds to the importance.
A beautiful story about the strength brought by having pride in your beliefs and the tenacity of the bond between siblings. The illustrations complement the poetic style of the writing, and there's the valuable addition at the end of the story of the authors' and illustrator's own experiences of wearing hijab. A text that will open up important conversations about different faiths and traditions.
I choose this book as I know that some girls find it difficult wearing the Hijab to school, this story really helps with making it something that just happens.
Hope it will help girls feel more able to wear it and not have to be asked why.
Will be in my reading corner.
I liked this book because it tells people to not make fun of other people and their hijab. Even if someone is different to you that is no excuse for teasing hurting and being rude. Being different is what makes us who we are.
I am a Muslim and I love this book .She has a sister called faizah
Wonderful, sensitive and powerful. Loved the colours and the drawings
I liked counting her steps.
I liked the hijab.
I liked the main character as she was very proud of her religion and brave
I like the descriptive way the book is written
It was a very calming book. It helped me to relax.
it is about empowering hijab women and girls to be proud and great fun about their hijab I would recommend to 7+
I realy enjoyed this book. I could relate to it as my mum wearsa hijab and really liked the relationship between the sisters.
This book provoked loads of discussion from my son as to why the girls were treated this way.
I loved this book! I don't often read picture books but the illustrations grabbed me when I saw this on the shelf. It is a simple book about resisting bullies and being proud of your beliefs. I can't wait to share this with others. Beautiful message and beautiful pictures.
One of the most beautiful books I have read. Written in the words of a small child on her first day of school she proudly and eloquently celebrates Hijab culture in the face of hurtful ignorance. A total masterpiece!
I felt happy and sad when I read this book. The boys were being rude to Asiya but her sister Faiza was proud of her. Faiza wanted a blue hijab too.
I liked the picture the girl drew of her and her sister.
What is it about: It is about a girl called Asiya and another girl called Faizah. Faizah (the youngest and is sisters with Asiya) says thing about her older sister and that her new scarf (that is blue) look’s like the sea and sky. Who do i recommend this to? Anyone who like uplifting stories or, want’s a universal story of new experiences. Why i read this book: I read this because it is about a story of a hijab and family.
I liked where the girl went to school. When she was doing drawing
This is such a lovely book and its so inspiring
It’s about Asiya’s first time in school with a hijab. Some boys are laughing at her but she runs away
I love this book and I love the illustrations. This book is excellent because it tells about a story about a girl and her hijab.
I liked that she drew a picture of two princesses wearing a hijab.
