A fun football tale for little readers packed with laughs, friendship and a spot of superstition …
Ridiculous injuries … strange illnesses … cancelled games … Everything’s going wrong for the Saints this season, and Stanley’s team-mates believe they finally know why. Their football kit is cursed! But the team’s attempts to break the curse take things from bad to worse. Soon, they’re ready to call it quits. Stanley’s still got some tricks up his sleeve … but will his curse-cracking ideas save the team in time for the last game of the season? TweetReviews
Standley is a great team leader
It is a very good book because the 11 didn't give up. I loved it all. I would absolutely tell someone else to read it.
My favourite bit was when the unlucky eleven won the first game of the season

It was funny and made me want to keep reading. I would recommend this to anyone 7 years and older.
Funny, easy to read book that would convince even the most hesitant of readers to give it a bash! I really enjoyed it!
I liked the book because The Unlucky Eleven were unlucky at first and then they got better. My favourite character was Aiden because he was silly and shoved garlic up his socks.

My favourite person was the girl who tried to wear her kit backwards. It was a good book because it was funny.
Cool little book. Funny, fast-moving, football-centred shenanigans with the Saints and the curse of the kit!! A great Little Gems book. I’ve previously only read Phil Earl’s writing for older children- ‘When the Sky Falls’. I might try and get hold of some of his other Little Gems. I see he’s written another Barrington Stoke, football-themed book - Edgar and Adolf. Wish it was easier to read books and then decide whether or not to buy them for the Library 📚
It was funny and made me think of my own football team when we had a borrowed kit and lost every game

My favourite character was Stanley because he fully believed that his team would win, and it’s important to have very supportive and positive people in a team.
