a good book about strong women who faced racism but still stood strong
I rated this book 5 stars because there was a fast runner who was called Florence Joyner. I liked her because she was the fastest runner in the world and I liked running too so she made me want to always try my best. This book taught me different life skills and fun facts that I will always remember.
It was a bit boring
AMAZING very factual.
I like the story of mathematician Katherine Johnson, who is responsible about fly to Space.

I loved how it inspires how powerful black people are all over the world and that black people can be heroes to I would recommend to 7+
I like how their proven that different skin colours don't matter and we are all different and that's ok.
A quick introduction into the lives of 40 “bold women in black history”. Made me want to do my own research to find out more about these women.
Lovely illustrations which added to the attractiveness of the book.
Lovely facts
I thought that this book was extremely intriguing
I think it's an inspiring book of brave black women.
I think I liked Rosa's part the most as she was really determined not to give up her seat for a white person and even though she went to jail she was still very brave.
I would recommend this book to big kids.
It’s a very powerful book, it made me feel very proud of being a young black woman.
It’s very inspirational and interesting, I learnt a lot about different amazing women.
It is a book I can relate to well.
This book was amazing! Really inspiring and beautifully illustrated. 100% recommend.
It was so interesting. I'd like to be the runner
I like reading about the different people
I thought it was really really really good
Very informative. Liked that they added more than 40 women. I would recommend it to someone.
This is a brilliant book to teach children about inspirational black women through history. Usually I avoid choosing books that focus on narrower groups (e.g. women rather than all black people), however I think this book is a great way to inspire young black women and remind everyone of how important their history is. My only issue with this book is that I'm not entirely sure what age group it's intended for but I think many ages can appreciate it.
I am enjoying reading each story everyday. I like little leaders because they are bold women in black history. I am studying so I can be like one of them when I grow older.
This is a great book to have in a classroom. The presentation of information is engaging and accessible and a joy to read. I introduced this book to my class as part of Black History Month and shared selected parts with them over the month. I was also able to link the information to topics in the class such as jazz and this engaged the children further. As a factual book I was interested in reading this because I think recognition and knowledge of these people are integral for children growing up. I would recommend this book to children and teachers.
This was a very interesting read and I learnt lots about forty 'bold women in black history'. On every page I turned, I discovered a new bold woman who changed history.
I was particularly intrigued by the story of Seaman William Brown who pretended to be a man to serve in the British Royal Navy.
I am already thinking of ways to use the mini biographies in my guided reading lessons.
An inspirational book about inspirational women!
It is really inspiring for everyone. It shows you can do anything! I recommend it to anyone who needs to learn black history or who needs inspiring
