A wonderfully warm and touching story of friendship, identity and kindness from top-notch tween author Karen McCombie.

Being at home is hard for Hannah. With Mum, Dad and Vix always fighting they’ve got no time for her or her worries, she might as well be invisible. But when she finds an abandoned diary in the park containing snippets and photographs of the colourful life of the mysterious Sami Star, Hannah hopes she’s found the real friend she always needed. Little does Hannah know Sami needs her too… A heart-warming story of finding friendship in the most unlikely of places. Particularly suitable for struggling, reluctant or dyslexic readers aged 8+

So this book is about a person called Sami and he had a diary called The Secret. But, one day, someone stole it. Sami was so sad that she had to call all of her friends to help her find her lost diary. When they found out who stole it, the police arrested the thief. I like the character Sami because she has very good skills. I would definitely recommend this to a friend I know.

I love this book because there is a diary and it gets dumped bye a cool quirky girl. Somebody finds that diary her name is Hannah and everyone is ignoring her she feels invisible. My favourite character was probably Sammy star because she was really cool and she didn’t care about what anyone thought about her. This book interested me because it can show you that doesn’t care about anyone else’s think About what you wear what you do and how are you going to the world with your attitude. I would recommend this book because it was really cool and I loved it.

I picked this up while looking for books for children who needed content no quantity in Year 4. It is a good book to prompt discussions on various issues from parental expectations, conformity and friendships to difference. A little delight to get discussions going.

It was interesting how much Harriet cared about the diary because this girls life seemed so quirky and fun she wanted to meet her as her own life was hard as Harriet’s friends started to not listen or pay attention to what she said.

this book is really good because its easy to picture and its got a simple story line to it.i would definitely recommend it because the main character Hannah isn't enjoying her friendships and home life. But when she finds the diary her life completely changes and she's got a best friend in the end and her two old best friends Zadie and Robyn start to actually like Hannah new friend Sami Star and its nice to picture because once you first start the fist chapter you can't put it down and then you suddenly feel like your in the story too because you have read it non stop
