One of my all time favourites, can be read, can be sung, can be acted out. What more could you want from a book!

Nursery age pupils love this story - able to join in the repeated refrains. Opportunities to explore different adjectives and new vocabulary.

I loved We’re Going on a Bear Hunt because it is exciting, repetitive and really fun to read aloud. I like how the children go through different obstacles on their adventure, which makes the story interactive and keeps children engaged. I also think the repetition is great for helping young children join in and remember the story.

They go hiking through grass, river, mud, forest, snowstorm, cave and found a bear then ran all the way back and got scared

A classic that can help children really engage with the story. Great to read out loud with a group of children full of onomatopoeia that helps bring the story to life. The book is also beautifully illustrated and turns the story into an epic family adventure.

I enjoyed this book as it’s fun to read aloud due to the repetition. I liked the repeated phrases as it makes it easy to follow along the story and join in. I would recommend this book to children in EYFS and KS1 as the repetition in the story can allow children to join in.

I really enjoyed We’re Going on a Bear Hunt because it is fun, adventurous and has lots of repetition. I liked the rhythm and the different obstacles the family comes across on their journey. It made me think about how repetition and actions can make a story exciting and encourage children to join in. I would recommend it to younger readers, especially children in nursery and primary school, as it is great for reading aloud. There are no major content warnings, although some younger children may find the bear slightly scary.

Absolute classic and super fun
