A discovery from ancient Egypt . . .
A cursed package . . .
The untold story of a young pharaoh . . .
When Lilian Kaye finds a parcel on her grandad’s doorstep, she is shocked to see who sent it: a famous Egyptologist, found dead that very morning, according to every newspaper in England!
The mysterious package holds the key to a story . . . about a king whose tomb archaeologists are desperately hunting for.
Lil and her friends must embark on an incredible journey – to return the package to its resting place, to protect those they love, and to break the deadly pharaoh’s curse . . .

Great historical fiction book which is well written and has different stories which weave together. Perfect to link with Egypt topic!
An amazing book by one of my absolute favourite authors. I loved the way the chapters sometimes switched between the past and present. I found it a really exciting storyline.
I loved this book because it was fictional but contained true facts and left you with an eerie, mysterious feeling. I recommend it to people who like Egypt, the unknown story of Tutankhamun or any other of Emma Carrols books.
I loved how the real-life discovery of the tomb was blended with the story of the mysterious and possibly cursed package. It really brought the story of Tutankhamum to life. I would definitely recommend it.
Although I found parts of it a little not-believable, I thought that my students would really enjoy it and perhaps suspend their disbelief a little more than I could. I liked the style and found it easy to read.
A really good book by Emma carrol
This was such an addictive and mysterious book! I loved how along the journey, clues were dotted around, and eventually, the mystery was solved, and I made some pretty good predictions! My favourite character would be Alex, because of his personality and kindness! I definitely would recommend this.
it was an amazing story of twists and turns I loved it
I have read many books by Emma Carroll, and this one was just as amazing as the rest. My favourite character was Tulip due to her bold and clever personality. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 and would recommend it.
She truly is the queen of historical fiction.
It's a historical fiction. And there are two characters that I love. They are Lilian Kaye and Tulip. The story is one day Lilian is shocked to find a parcel from a Egypt Professor Selim Hanawati. And the next day lilian found his dead from the newspaper. So, this is all about how lilian return the parcel to Egypt. And how they break the deadly Pharaoh's curse.
A wonderful book - such an exciting story, very well written. She is so deserving of her title ‘queen of historical fiction’. As an adult I was gripped & couldn’t put it down & there is so much to capture children’s imaginations.
I would 100% recommend secrets of the sun king as sit is now one of my favourite books. It has factual parts like the parts about Thut and his tomb but it has fictional parts too. I like t call her the queen of historical fiction.
This was a really exiting fiction book by one of my favroute writers. My favrout character was tulip and I
would definitely reccommend this book to someone else.
I would recommed this book 100percent. Its really intrieging and i wanted to know what happened next. My favroute character was Tulip and its a great book.
I loved this book. It was a brilliant blend of friendship, historical fiction and adventure.
At the moment, in history we’re learning about Ancient Egypt, so the book makes a lot of sense and it’s a good fiction book. It really makes you think it’s true.
I liked Tulip because she is very loyal to Lil.
Suspense. Lots of it. Amazing.
I read this with my 9 year old son as it fitted perfectly with his history topic of Egyptians. The storyline was good although it was hard to follow in parts for him. The characters were interesting and well written. We both looked forward to reading it every evening. We would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is learning about Egypt, loves history or adventure stories.
About: this book is about a girl that is on a quest to break a curse to save her Grandad. But she needs to go to Egypt. And will she break the curse? yes or no?
Recommend: I recommend this book for ages 8-10 because it has a lot of words I don't understand. It is a good book that I recommend to Eva specifically.
Favorite bit: My favorite part is when Lil's friend finds her half-bro because Oz keeps on looking at him and not at his sister's scorpion sting.
At times it was really great and adventurous or other times it was slightly boring.
I didn't really like the book because it way too much history and I don't like history.
I loved the mystery and adventure in this book it is amazing!
It was really interesting
This book was a really interesting book to read because it was a mixture of fiction and facts. The characters were very brave and they even travelled all the way to Egypt!I liked Oz and Tulip the best because as soon as they heard about Lil’s grandad they were determined to help her replace the cursed jar even though it was dangerous.
I have loved all of Emma Carroll's books but I particularly enjoyed this Egyptian mystery. I also have really enjoyed letters from a lighthouse, in darkling wood, sky chasers and many more. I hope you will enjoy Emma Carroll's books as well.
Very well written with a thrilling plot. Excellent for any readers interested in Ancient Egypt. I loved the mix of ancient writings and more modern story telling, an excellent mystery.
There was a curse over Tutankhamen’s tomb so anyone who disturbed it would die.
my favourite character was oz and tulip . i am now really interested in ancient egypt because of this book
