The Peculiars are a band of
misfits, trapped in a nightly
Victorian sideshow. There’s Wolfgirl,
Sheba; Sister Moon, who can
move at the speed of light; and
Monkey Boy, ace climber and
human stink bomb. But during
the day, in a world of childsnatchers,
grave robbers and
dastardly doctors, they solve the
mysteries no one else cares about – including why London’s poorest

children are being snatched from the banks of the Thames …

The book was a good representation of Victorian England in 1851. It was a little violent and gory which sensitive children might not like. It was a good adventure and I read it fast so it was engaging. Good messages throughout

I think that this book was brilliant, if a little scary. However, I wish that all the loose ends were tide up and l didn't have so many questions after reading the book. l hope there is another one of what happens next!

I do seem to enjoy books set in the Victorian era. Sheba is covered in hair, with sharp teeth and nails and is sold from one freak show to another based in London. Her new ' family ' are very welcoming and together they solve the mystery of the missing mud lark children. A bit violent in places so would say aimed at 10+

I really liked the giant man as he was a gentle giant and Sister Moon as she is a good example to girls. i would recommend it to anyone who loves history and mystery.

a great read from the author of Podkin One Ear. Monkeyboy was my favourite character, mischievous and funny and throwing unsavoury things. They have a mystery to solve and a short time to solve it.

I thought this was a good book because it is very interesting and adventurous and often stuff that you don't expect there to happen happens, making it as surprising and interesting as it can be. One of the stuff I like about it is that the characters have to find their own way through situations, instead of somebody else. the person I liked best was Sister Moon because she is willing to be kind to good people and she always helps at the right times. It interested me because nothing goes how you want it to and nobody believes the main characters. The title also makes you want to try the book because you wonder " how peculiar is this book." I would definitely recommend it to others because one you start reading you cant stop.

I thought this book was quite good and very fast paced. The character I licked most was gigantus because he was very tall and strong. I would recommend it to somebody else as it is a very good book.

This book is all about history, mystery and adventure. My favourite character is Sheeba as she leads the rest of her friends really well. When Monkeyboy and Sheeba's friend Till goes missing they have to find who took her. Will they find Till in time before she is killed?

Fans of the Greatest Showman will love this book set in Victorian London. Sheba the Wolfgirl lives with a bunch of Peculiars and works for a greedy freak show owner. One day a girl goes missing from the banks of the river Thames and Sheba and her band of misfits become the most unusual crime fighters ever.
