I think this book is a determined girl olive trying to see the light during the dark times in the war along with juggling unformed relationships between Esther Jenkins and herself /the dazzling theories surrounding her sister sukie in this book we’ve seen a young girl mature and develop into a young women.it’s just a generally amazed book showing age and size doesn’t matter you can be an asett in any shape or form no matter what

The historical element was good to support our history. The main character reaching out to others and being supportive even when she herself was struggling supported PSHE and citizenship.

I liked Olive as she was determined and kept going! It’s a fictional storey but based on true facts about WW2.
I would recommend this book to others.

A lovely story about ww2 refugees and evacuees. It kept me gripped. There are so many stories about this time in history it is hard to find something that feels different. This books adds something new. I enjoyed it.

I loved this book. The best bit was when Olive and Ester made friends and rescued a boat carrying people from Australia at risk. I would recommend this to people who want a thrilling adventure along with friendship.

This heartwarming novel by Emma Caroll contains a girl named Olive and her younger brother Clive.
They are watching a film when an air raid begins. Olives older sister Sukie disappears with a strange male. A coded note is the only clue. Will the pair crack the code or will they be as ignorant as everybody else?
This is a gripping story and my favourite part is when they are moved to a lighthouse and first realise something is wrong. Everybody has secrets and Olive, not being stupid, knows they are all in something. Otherwise, why would there be piles of hats and scarves all over along with numerous tins of food and secretive glances.
Letters from the lighthouse gets 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it ti anyone over the age of 8 who likes codes and some sad and happy moments. This book grips you all the way through and you cannot stop reading it.
