As a child in Pakistan, Malala made a wish for a magic pencil that she could use to redraw reality. She would use it to give gifts to her family, to erase the smell from the rubbish dump near her house, to sleep an extra hour in the morning. As she grew older, Malala wished for bigger and bigger things. She saw a world that needed fixing. And even if she never found a magic pencil, Malala realized that she could still work hard every day to make her wishes come true.

This beautifully illustrated picture book tells Malala’s story, in her own words, for a younger audience and shows them the worldview that allowed her to hold on to hope and to make her voice heard even in the most difficult of times.

I really like Malala, she is an inspiration to all women.
I learnt about her story at school and she really showed me how she fought for girls and education.
All young girls can look up to Malala and know that she did everything she could to get girls into education.

It was a good book because I didn't know who Malala was and I thought it was interesting to read about how the Taliban came and destroyed everything she liked. I would recommend this book.

Wow! Just wow! This book was short, yet it opened up so many questions. I would love to use this with children in my school. I think it's such an important story that all children need to hear. It would work for many age groups as there are so many different parts to discuss and different ages would take different things away from it.

This was a real story. It was interesting because the story was about a brave girl who never stopped writing and learning even though dangerous men tried to stop her.

I like it because it makes you believe in magic. My favourite part was when Malala would check in her draw to see if there was a magic pencil.

Really simple to understand. Highlights the injustice as well as desire to learn.

This book is very very sad because Malala lived in India and she was very lucky to be able to go to school, Quite a lot of kids in her country weren’t able to go to school because if they did, their family would run out of money. I liked it when Malala spoke up for her country using just a pencil and words.

Malala’s Magic Pencil is a magnificently magical book. I love how she spoke for girls who could not speak for themselves and that, if she had a magic pencil, she would draw things for other people as well as herself. Malala is an incredible person and I really enjoyed every bit of the book.
