Just read A Rising Man (Quick reads) by Abir Mukherjee and really liked it. It’s set in 1919 Calcutta and follows a British detective and his Indian partner solving a murder. The mystery was interesting and the setting felt really vivid. Even though it’s a short book, it didn’t feel rushed. I liked the mix of crime, history, and politics—definitely made me want to read more from the series.
Brilliant! Dark! Funny! Thrilling and... it has romance
His descriptions painted a picture on every page and the surprises, twists and turns kept coming right until the last paragraph.
I was left gasping for breath and wanting to move straight on to 'A Necessary Evil' whilst also wanting to reread it all over again (but I had already promised to lend it to my friend - damn and blast!!)
