‘There was something else out on the sea by the rocks – something dark that seemed to lurch out of the waves . . . What could it be?’
Julian, Dick and Anne are spending the holidays with their tomboy cousin George and her dog, Timothy. One day, George takes them to explore nearby Kirrin Island, with its rocky little coast and old ruined castle on the top.
Over on the island, they make a thrilling discovery, which leads them deep into the dungeons of Kirrin Castle on a dangerous adventure. Who – and what – will they find there?

I have read this before and wanted to read it again!
When siblings Julian, Dick and Anne cannot go for their usual summer holiday to Polzeath, they are invited to spend the summer with their Aunt Fanny and Uncle Quentin at their home Kirrin Cottage, in the coastal village of Kirrin. They also meet their cousin Georgina, a surly, difficult girl, who tries hard to live like a boy and only answers to the name George. Despite an uncomfortable start, the cousins become firm friends and George introduces them to her beloved dog Timothy (Timmy), who secretly lives with the fisher boy, James, in the village as George's parents will not allow her to keep Timmy.
On their way to Kirrin Island, George shows her cousins a shipwreck, explaining it was her great-great-great-grandfather's ship. He had been transporting gold when the ship was wrecked in a storm, but despite divers investigating the wreck, the gold was never found. After visiting the wreck, the five arrive on the Island and are exploring the ruined castle when a huge storm blows up, making it too dangerous for them to return to the mainland. While they take shelter on the island, the sea throws up the old shipwreck, grounding it on the rocks surrounding the island. Excited by these developments, they decide to come back at dawn the next day to investigate the wreck before it is discovered.
The following day, the five visit the wreck and discover the captain's cabin, where they find some objects belonging to George's great-great-great-grandfather, including an old box which they take back to Kirrin Cottage. The box proves difficult to open, so they throw it from the highest window of the house. The box breaks open, but the noise disturbs Uncle Quentin who confiscates the box. Not willing to give up their quest, Julian sneaks into Uncle Quentin's study and takes the box, which contains an old map of Kirrin Castle. Later in the further investigation of the map the children find a word INGOTS, which they later understand represents the place in which the lost Gold is buried…
I would recommend this book to children age 9 to 11.
it was a great adventure Book and my favourite character was Timmy the dog because his character is smart and brave. Yes I would recommend it to my friends as this has challenging vocabulary.
Re-reading the entire Famous Five series this summer, Enid Blyton’s classics never get old!
It's veryy good. I like books about adventures
It was very interesting and had lots of descriptions
I loved this book. It was so exciting, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next! I would definitely recommend this book.
I liked the book because it was very intresting and mysterious
It was very exciting, making me want to read more. I liked all the characters.
It was great!
I like George and Timmy best.
Great
I liked when they finally got the gold. I thought that would be the end of the story. But there was a plot twist. My favourite character was Tim because the dog was fearless and wasn’t scared about a thing.
I would recommend it to someone else as they may like to go adventuring just like the famous five did on George’s island
It was facinating and I always couldn't stop reading it. It was very dramatic and every page l read made me more ingaged into it. I wishes it never ended
Very small writing but great story
I give it 3 stars because I like magic and stuff and this has no magic thank you nurse Damond paperclip
My thought are that they always have epic adventures and they always have the way to solve a mission because they always work in teamwork. If it was fiction my favorite character would be Julian because he is the eldest of them all and he is probably the bravest. It interests me because for me each second there’s action and when the bad guys are in their sights , it’s sometimes dramatic. I would recommend it to someone that is between 7 and 14 years old and that likes adventures and action.
Audiobook, really enjoyed
I liked this as there was lots of adventure. There was an island with gold bars hidden in a dungeon in kirrin castle. My favourite character was Timmy because he saved the day by delivering a message to his friends. This was important because his friends needed help.
I enjoyed this book because of the mystery, which you can join in with solving. I tried to work it out before the famous five. My favourite character is Timothy because he’s a clever dog and helps the famous five discover new clues. I’d recommend this book to people who like solving mysteries.
I enjoyed this book very much. My favourite character is
Georgina also known as George. I like this character because George hates being a girl and in the book it tells us that she is a faster swimmer than Julian and Dick. It interested me because it is an adventure story and always leaves a mystery. I would recommend it to a mystery and adventure type person and I know that they will definitely enjoy this book.
Reading this with my current class has made me fall in love with the adventures of the Famous Five all over again. i can't wait to read the series all over agion (once my class have finished borrowing my copies that is)
I thought it great because I like adventure books.
I thought it compared bit to who let the gods out because there was a group of children on a adventure. I liked George the best. I think it was quite lucky to own a island.

I like George and Timmy. Because it was exciting. I recommend this book to someone who likes adventures.
It is really nice as they aren’t to keen on each other as friends then at the end they have an adventure together .
I like Timmy the best as he is a friendly , loving ,loyal and protective mongrel .
I would definitely recommend this book to someone else.
This is a book review for five on a treasure island. This is a book about 3 children: Julian, Dick and Anne visiting their cousin George and dog Timothy. Together they solve mysteries, that is why they are called the Famous Five.
One day on Kirin-island they found a treasure map in a ship-wreck. It’s a race against time to find treasure before the thieves… I liked this book very much; the reason is the characters found a loop-hole and exploited it. This book was very nicely written, I would read it to pass time anywhere
Adventurous
A very nice adventure. Lots of suspense so you want to keep reading it to find out what happens.
