The magical sequel to ‘War Horse’, now a major motion picture.

Discover the beautiful stories of Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse and the nation’s favourite storyteller Joey was the last working horse on the farm, and the apple of Grandpa’s eye. In War Horse, Joey was sent away from the farm to be a warhorse in WWI. Grandpa had joined the cavalry in order to find, and fight, with Joey. Farm Boy brings us forward fifty years with Grandpa not only telling his grandson, Joey’s story but also a ‘shameful secret’ which he has held for years… The story is set in Iddesleigh in Devon and lovingly evokes the bonds between farm and farmer; grandson and grandfather. The spirit of rural life is superbly captured in both Michael Morpurgo’s writing and Michael Foreman’s illustrations. An irresistible title from acclaimed author-illustrator partnership.

I thought this book was excellent and I really loved reading it. I liked how it was from the point of view of someone who is either listening to the book or reading it. I like how you get to see what the boy thinks and feels about what he is hearing or reading. I enjoyed every word this book had to offer!

This book was so good to read, and it was great to find out what happened after War Horse had ended. I read the whole book in a single sitting, and it really made me think about all that happened in the World Wars and how lucky I am to be able to go to school properly and learn so much, but still be able to enjoy being outdoors at the weekends.

It was very like war horse only with a Grandfather telling is grandson about his father, Joeys owner (war horse) when he went to war to find Joey only most of what he said was different from the actual war horse book.

It was a great experience with reading it and great adverbs and a bit dramatic with the ending .This interesting book is about a real life in the olden days but probably not all of it is true but I can’t tell you because I don’t know if it’s totally true. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in old but true story and a good idea of how it is so good.

I like the Grandpa probably because he was the one who 'made the story' and he may not have the 'best' grammar or be the best at English but it sounds like he had a great time when he was little. And it's nice how he just wants a peaceful life on the farm. I recommend it but if your like 10 or under you might not understand.

It was emotional heart warming story, full of friendship and passion.I would recommend it to anybody who likes horses or a dramatic story . My book was a fiction book and i would have to say my favourite character is probably Joey (the horse on the cover) because of all his spirit and perseverance.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked it when the horses beat the tractor. It showed that the farmer believed in his horses. My favorite character was the father because he stood up for what he believed in. This book interested me as I have read some the the Authors other books. (Friend or foe and war horse)

A fantastic sequel to the heartwarming story Waar Horse. This story is told from the perspective of a boy a few generations after the story War Horse. It got a bit boring at some points but a good story overall. great for ages 8 and above.

I started this book a long time ago, but finally finished it today. It tells the story of war time.

07 Sep 2020

This is a quick story to read but captures the determination of a young boy. I would recommend it to the ages of 7+.

I thought this book was exciting and thrilling because it was mostly about the Grandad telling a story about why the old green tractor was so important. My favourite character was the Grandad because he missed school a lot because of the farming he wanted to do. His grandson taught him to read and write so he wrote his own story about the old green tractor. I would recommend this book for people who like farm stories.

Farm Boy - The sequel to War Horse by Michael Morpurgo.

This book is about a boy who loves spending time with his grandpa on his farm. He would go and stay with him as much as he could, especially as he loved listening to his stories.
The boy comes from a family of famers.
This book is about his grandad telling a story about his dad and a horse called Joey who his dad loved very much.
Joey was bought by soldiers and used in the war and so his Grandads dad went off to fight in the war just to find Joey, which he did.
One day whilst the boy was visiting his grandpa, his grandpa asked him a very important question. His grandpa couldn’t read or write. His wife promised to teach him but sadly past away.
He asked his Grandson if he could teach him to read and write and he bet his grandson £100 that he would learn by Christmas. His grandpa won the bet and wrote his grandson a story about his dad’s horse Joey and how Joey won a furrow bet.
I really enjoyed this book and read it in a day. I wanted to know if the horses won the bet.
I rate this book a 8 out of 10.
