Excellent adventure story!
Kept me interested to find out what happened next.
It kept me interested all the time. I would recommend.

This was a surprising book.
Lilly had the cogheart in her the whole time
It was amazing!
Loved it!
A little boring but the end is amazing
It's a fantastic story with betrayal and plot twists. It was a real page turner.
So amazing
I recommend this book because it's really interesting and will make you not take your eyes of it.
I recently read "Cogheart" by Peter Bunzl and I have to say, it's an absolutely delightful read. The book is set in a steampunk version of Victorian England and follows the adventures of Lily, the daughter of a famous inventor, and Robert, a clockmaker's son. The two are brought together on a mission to find Lily's missing father, encountering a cast of intriguing characters and dangerous obstacles along the way.
One of the best things about "Cogheart" is the world-building. The steampunk setting is vividly realized, with all sorts of imaginative gadgets and machines. The characters are also well-drawn, with Lily and Robert making a great duo as they work together to unravel the mystery of Lily's father's disappearance. The book is also full of action, with plenty of thrilling chase scenes and narrow escapes to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Overall, I would highly recommend "Cogheart" to anyone looking for a fun, exciting read
An exciting and interesting story.
It is very interesting and full of mysteries and surprises.
I loved it!
I read this book in school and I loved it!!! It was so good I can’t stop comparing things to the book. I recommend it to people who love a good mystery because Lily wants to find out where her papa went after his airship crashed. My favourite character is Malkin Lily’s mech fox he was built for Lily by her papa.
This was an exciting story with a great twist. I am looking forward to reading further books in the series.
exiting and mood changing
I think it's an amazing book ! I would recommend this book to those who like reading different types of books and those who love adventurous books !
Set in an alternative Victorian England we begin the story after the exciting prologue with Lily at boarding school learning deportment, etiquette, embroidery and perfect manners! Lily though has other plans and would much rather be reading adventure stories of pirates, thieves and vampires in her beloved Penny Dreadful’s. Lily is a wonderful character full of love, compassion, kindness and bravery which she draws upon as the adventure unfolds. Lily finds a new friend and ally in Robert, an apprentice watch maker, who has rescued and repaired Lily’s beloved mechanimal fox Malkin. Robert makes an amazing hero, he’s brave and incredibly loyal but also far from the perfect heroes of many books as we learn of his fears and insecurities which make him even more real and relatable.
The baddies of the story are spectacularly creepy and occasionally terrifying, bringing with them danger, fear, twists and turns they add a wonderful element to the book. As do the mechanicals, mechanimals and even the hi-bred part human, part machine characters! The many elements work well together to offer a real page turner of a book with excitement, adventure, love and loss.
It was an amazing read, I couldn't put it down!
Younger readers will enjoy this story. It is an exciting, though often perilous, adventure with a Victorian steampunk theme. It’s a nice read with likeable characters - human and mechanical.
I’m giving it 4/5 for a couple of things though. I appreciate I’m reviewing it as an adult.
1. It’s quite predictable
2. Poor Robert. What a tragedy to just brush under the carpet!
I will give the next in the series a try though.
An interesting book that looks at different angles.
It was a really good book. It had everything, suspense and amazing characters. Definitely one of my favourites.
This book was amazing. it is full of mystery and exitment. really dragged me in. I would recommend this to 9+ or anyone who wants a challenge. It is creepy in parts but i loved it so much.
A mysterious, suspenseful, adventurous story about friendship, loyalty and secrets.
Some brilliant examples of descriptions of characters and settings. An original and interesting story idea which develops beautifully.
It’s funny, I tried reading this book last year and didn’t manage to get beyond the first chapter. This time, I couldn’t put it down. Loved the world that Peter Bunzl created, the characterization, the mechanicals and mechanimals, the energy and thrilling adventure. I didn’t realise that this was a debut novel. Very confident storytelling. 📚
This book was full of gripping detail all the way through. Although many of the plot twists were more predictable as and adult reader the enjoyment and anticipation still remains. This is a fantastic read for anyone into fantasy adventures with a steam punk twist. For a darker tale similar in theme to this one I recommend Mortal Engines.
I would recommend this book to other as it was really good
Mysterious, serious, interesting, close calls.
Cogheart is an amazing book. It left me on the edge of my seat every time I came to a new chapter! I would say that my favourite character would be Lily because she is caught up in a huge web of lies every where that she turns and honestly I feel sorry for her. Her supposedly trust worthy god father does everything he can do to get his hands on the Cogheart and even tries to cut her stomach open and take it out of her. I would recommend this book to children about 9or over because unless you like gory books then this might not be for you.
