In Year 1, we read 'I want my Hat Back' and this is a good follow on as the 'hat' continues to star in the story! From a teacher's point of view, I preferred 'I want my hat back' as we've completed more of a focus on it in Year 1.
Having said that 2 children said to me they really enjoyed reading this book in the book corner.
"I love this book as it is about turtles and I love turtles."
"It has turtles and I love turtles."
This is part of Jon Klassen's hat trilogy. It is quite different to I Want My Hat Back, though both rely on the children inferring what some characters are feeling and thinking using the illustrations. This story is about two tortoises finding a hat and deciding that as they both want it, neither should have it. In the end the value of friendship wins out over selfishness. Any child who enjoyed I Want My Hat Back will enjoy this.
I liked the bit where the tortoise said “nothing” and I also liked the ending.
I love the pictures because they are both together all the time and they both have a hat at the end, even though it’s a dream.
The chapters were a bit too short but it was a really cute story.
I kinda of liked this book because it didn't have much words to read and it was a bit boring.i would like this book to a bit funnier and have much more words on each page but it had good pictures.
I like how the turtles shared and l would like to have that hat
I liked how kind they were to each other
Enjoyed the story about two best friends who find a hat.
Will they share the hat?
The illustrations were good. It was easy to read. Fiction

I loved it especially when they watched the sunset
I am wi l f r e d wi t he r s . I love my mummy and we read this together taking it in turns to read each page. I love the turtles in the book. I love it when they sleep and the sun goes down
Funny!
I liked that it was similar to "the rock from the sky". Their dream was funny.
Very nice, very good illustrations and a nice moral of a story.
I like it because at the end they were dreaming together. It's more important that they are together than that they have a hat.
I loved the turtles. Another very funny book from Jon Klassen
Worst book ever!
I liked it because at first they found a hat and they had a dream about it
It was awesome and funny and was a blast and I love it so much.
They were wishing and they were thinking in the book. When they first found the hat was the best bit.
It is a lovely book to read.
I liked it, it was weird because the tortoise in the dream there was two hats but there was just one hat.
I liked the story
Simple, easy to read entertaining story
I laughed a lot at the tortoise that wanted the hat, even when he pretended he didn’t. I liked the ending, because he was a very good friend and left the hat behind.
i like this book because its all
about sharing
Easy for a beginner reader to read, with pictures which subtly add to the story.
It was funny because the tortoises were happy and left the hat alone because there was only one
