I thought this was an amazing book about demons, mythology and ancient times. It was a perfect mix of Hogwarts-style story-telling and Percy Jackson books.
My favourite character is Ignatius
It was really good.
Amazing
Entertaining and captivating story with great characters to love and hate.
An action packed fantasy adventure with a touch of The Northern Lights (demons), Harry Potter (learning spells at boarding school) and Lord of the Rings (elves and dwarves). This is part 1 in a 4 part series, suitable for ages 11+ due to language. An orphaned commoner has to earn his place against nobles, befriending elves and dwarves on the way and working alongside his salamander demon.
The Novice was a really good read. The author, Taran Matharu, did a very good job at creating the world in which the story takes place. My favourite character is Fletcher because of the way his story started out. He surprised me! Fletcher doesn't seem like he's very important but it turns out that he can do all these amazing things and he gets caught up in a really cool adventure.
I really liked this book mainly because if its creativity and imagination. I loved Fletcher because of how he was strong being an orphan, being bullied, wrongly accused then arrested for attempted murder which he did not do. This book is a mixture of Harry Potter and the game of thrones great for readers who love fiction and video game players who love fictional games. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. Taran Matharu never ceases to amaze me.
A bit of a combination of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings with dwarfs and elves. Ideal book for young adults. Lots of fighting.
This is one of my favourite books my favourite character is Ignatius (Fletcher's salamander) because he is cute. I would recommend it to others who like magic and fiction.
i have already this but i'm putting on as i have read the second one and it is not on here
This was not a descriptive book but it was set in a different world which made it engrossing. It was a mix of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings as it had elves and orcs.
