Having the ability to see fairies means that Tanya Fairchild’s life has never been easy. After all, real fairies are nothing like the ones in books; ones that grant wishes or leave money for teeth. Real fairies don’t like to be talked about, and they cast spells if Tanya steps out of line. The most she’s ever received in exchange for one of her teeth is a chewed up toffee. Of course, it would help if Tanya knew someone – anyone – else who could see them, too . . .
When Tanya meets Ratty, she finds not only that can he see fairies, but that he has a fairy friend, Turpin. Turpin is rude and spiteful, but funny and loyal too. When Ratty goes missing, Tanya discovers her new friend has another extraordinary ability; an ability that has the potential to destroy them both . . .

This is a good book! The fairies were the opposite of what I expected them to be and the end is utter chaos most of it was hidden until then and that makes it unique and even better. It is the perfect recommendation!
This book is brilliant! When Tanya meets Ratty, who can see fairies, she is overjoyed, she thought that she was the only one who could see fairies. Then Ratty is captured, so Tanya and Turpin, Ratty's fairy guardian, set out on a journey to save him, uncovering lots of secrets along the way.
Another amazing Michelle Harrison book featuring the character Tanya. A wonderful tale of fairies, magic, wonder and excitement from start to finish. I think my favourite character has to be Turpin the fairy. She’s brave, loyal and kind. I would definitely recommend any child or adult to read this book and find out all about the wishing tree.
The most interesting character is Don because he gets turned into a toad by Solomon the fey and starts to eat slugs.
I would recommend this book because it has loads of exciting events that keep happening throughout the book.
really someone should give Michelle an award for this!
i love this book because it is made as if it could possibly be real.
like second sighted people in stead of everyone seeing them.
my favorite character is ratty i love the danger he is in with out him the book would be slightly boring.
I would really recommend this book to others. All of Michelle Harrison's books are magical and amazing.

A great book to read!
This is the first book of the series with 13 Curses, 13 Wishes & 13 Secrets and I like their Gran the best because she is mysterious and even a little spooky!
I would recommend this book to ages 8-11 as the plot is a little difficult to understand at first.
Overall, this is an excellent book and I would recommend it highly.
This book is really exciting and gripping. It is about a girl called Tanya who is almost ordinary - except for one thing, she can see fairies. When Tanya meets Ratty and his fairy Turpin, she has at last found a friend who shares her ability. But Ratty has another dangerous secret, which leads him into the hands of a powerful enemy. So Tanya & Turpin set of to find him, but Tanya must use ONE wish to save Ratty.
And wishes must be used wisely...
I would definitely recommend this book to people who love adventure and a bit of thrill.
I really loved this book because it's full of exciting events and the boy's father even got turned into a frog! Turpin was my favourite character as she was a brave but stubborn fairy. I would recommend it to someone else as I really like this series of books!
I liked all the rhymed speech and her description was really good I could picture everything she described!
