All the stories Stephen King wrote under Bachman seem to be so much darker than those under his own name, and The Running Man is no exception. Very different from the film, which I had seen first, and both are great in their own way.
The film, a classic 80s action number starring Arnie, was great fun, if silly. The book is a relentless tale of desperation and the fight against a corrupt system, a gripping story.
