Woking Chatterbooks

The first Chatterbooks group at Woking Library was formed in May 2013 and is aimed at children in Years 5 & 6. We currently have twelve enthusiastic members who have voracious appetites both for a good read and a good biscuit. Our meetings are held monthly on a Thursday, commencing at 4:00pm for a 4:15 start. We always begin with refreshments to keep at bay those after-school hunger pangs. So far we have enjoyed a wide range of genres and authors, including David Walliams, William Nicholson, Gary Paulsen, Eve Garnett and Michael Morpurgo. Our members have strong, often conflicting, views about what we have read and this makes for lively and interesting discussions. Our meetings are a mix of book and author discussion, reading, craft activities, quizzes, book title charades and much, much more.
