Liverpool Central Library Book Group
adults
The Liverpool Central Library based book group meets every 2nd Friday of each month at 6pm.
We are currently hiding out at the Bluecoat Chambers whilst Central Library undergoes a major refurbishment, to be completed in 2013 when we will return home to our normal base.
Our group ranges from about seven to twelve members coming from all different backgrounds and ages.
We are a very friendly informal group and enjoy reading many various kinds of books and having a laugh during our discussions.
The group sometimes choose what to read every so often (as long as enough copies can be collected), otherwise the titles are chosen by myself.
I sometimes like to choose books that have a historical event connected to them, such as Robert Tressell\'s Ragged Trousered Philanthropists that was celebrated last year in Liverpool to mark the anniversary of the author\'s death.
We also have other events and activities throughout the year such as the Orange Book Awards and the Man Booker Prize and theatre or Author visits.
At the end of the year all the Liverpool reading groups come together and celebrate the books they have read and discuss over a fabulous buffet and wine which book was the most liked.
