To celebrate the publication of Klara and the Sun, the new novel from Booker and Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro, Faber is offering 3 reading groups 10 read and review copies of the book. Groups will also be invited to join a virtual discussion with Ishiguro’s editor and Faber Publishing Director, Angus Cargill, where they will have the opportunity to pick the brains of one of the people who know him and his work best.
About Klara and the Sun
The novel tells the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behaviour of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass in the street outside. She remains hopeful a customer will soon choose her, but when the possibility emerges that her circumstances may change for ever, Klara is warned not to invest too much in the promises of humans.
Ishiguro’s editor and Faber Publishing Director, Angus Cargill, said: “Klara and the Sun is stunning, a novel about the human heart that speaks urgently to the here and now, but from another place. I can’t wait for readers to discover the character of Klara and her world.”
