I enjoyed finding out about a period of history, and a person, I knew very little about; especially as women have been so underrepresented in the past. The book was well laid out, with some great pictures that draw you in – photos, maps and illustrations from original manuscripts. The book did a good job of explaining women’s roles in a period very different to ours; the timeline along the bottom of the pages was also helpful.
I would recommend this book to others (children or adults) as it was an interesting and informative read, and piqued my interest – I'll definitely be looking for more to read about this period in history.
