A nice book for KS2 but not challenging enough for KS3. The characters were engaging with nice cross curricular links to History.
My favourite book this Summer after Puzzled and Spy School. A really good story
I would recommend this book but some bits are sad.
I love this book! It's really good but its ending is so sad. My favourite character is either Molly or Big Joe. Charlie is closely after them because of his undying love for his little brother, which ended up killing him. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, but it has a very sad ending.
This book is great. I liked the way it represented how different people might feel in different situations.
I really like this book as it was based on real war and brotherhood and bravery
A heartwarming yet harrowing account of Tommo’s life as he navigates the journey from childhood to adulthood. A nice read.
This was a really good book. I learnt a lot about World War One and the impact it had on people’s lives. My favourite character was Charlie as he was so brave to take the firing squad to save his little brother
Such a good book but such a sad ending .
I learnt to always take care of the environment
I love this book and highly recommend it. I love Michael Morpurgo and hes also my favourite author.
It was very emotional and gripping at times which made me attached to the book. I loved this book.
it was very sad when charlie was shot.
he never seemed to have any fear
Amazing book.
I liked it but it was sad. I feel like Michael Murpurgo should have made the beginning bit longer and developed what was about to change his life. I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in the war.
I found the book very sad and there were parts of the book that I didn’t get answers to.
This was brilliant. It is now one of my favourite books. I felt disappointed for the characters and empathised with their situations. I was engrossed.
thought filling
It was very emotional and I really felt the main character Thomas but Charlie and Molly were certainly lovely characters. It left me on a cliff hanger and now I reslly want to know what happens next. I most definately recommend reading it.
Very good story.
It was sad and full of twists, yet beautiful at the same time.
When Private Tommo Peaceful remembers his childhood from the first day he went to school to the day that he and his brother Charlie were recruited for soldiers in WW1.But can he keep his promises and take care of the the family since Charlie(his ellder brother) and Father is gone? And can he bring up little Tommo to be just like his father?
An award-winning best-seller story woven with passion at the hands of a true story-teller.
This book was suggested to me on my SKE course as an excellent piece of reading for year 6 or year 7. I can see why it won an award, it is thoughtfully written.
It made me think about WW1 and how hard it must have been for the soldiers. I found it a difficult book to read and it was outside my comfort zone but made me think.
I thought it was poopy I liked the part when his dad died but other it’s poopy.
I recommend it
This book was incredible
This book is based on war and can be upsetting. I would recommend this book to year4-6. Many people die and the book is very interesting as it includes bits of history.
Very touching and emotional. Based in WW1 in the trenches.
Lovely book. About war and family relationships. Torture .
It was a sad but interesting read. However it has not inspired me to read any more books by Michael Morpurgo.
