This story was very interesting, the whole book had amazing lore, based on the history of Cornwall, and also fictional lore.
Incredible adventure story with challenging language and vivid imagery and description. Great Year 6 book!
I enjoyed this book. It had a good pace throughout and the main character and setting were engaging. I would recommend for Years 5 and 6.
I really enjoyed this book and I thought it was very creepy and a bit scary, although it was very exciting a lot. I really liked her 3- legged friend the best! He actually saved the main character's life!

I think this was a great book,it was fun to read and I enjoyed it.Laura Marlin has spent the whole 11 years of her life at Sylvan Meadows(a foster home for girls) now it time for a change, with her suitcase full of books she goes to live with her uncle in cornwall .Can she unlock Saint Ives secrets? This book is fiction,my favourite charecter is Laura Marlin. I would recommed this book to people with ambitions to become a detective
A book of unusual events from being in an orphanage where everyday is the Same, to being in Cornwall with a detective uncle and a group of criminal masterminds. Known as “ The straight A’s.” Even though they are caught up with the mystery “the straight A’s” have an undercover spy!!! It’s gripping but I don’t want to spoil it.
It was an adventurous detective novel full of mystery
An exciting adventure that was enjoyable to read!

This book is about a girl called Laura Marlin. When her friend Tariq disappears, she is thrown into a puzzle with a lot of suspense, mystery and adventure. I would recommend it to fans of The Murder Most Unladylike books and anyone who wants a mystery!
Intriguing and nice to read about our local area.
This book is an adventure mystery. I liked the two dogs in the story called Sky and Lottie.

It was about a young girl who is into mystery. I would recommend it for who are into mystery. My favourite character is Laura.
This book was so good and I would recommend it to everyone, especially Enid Blyton fans because it’s basically a modern Famous Five book- but better!
A great read
This book is fantastic and is a great adventure, it will make your hair rise on your backs.
It is about a curious girl called Laura, who used to live in an orphanage, but then moves in with her uncle, who she never knew she had. Each day they start to build stronger relationships with each other and slowly Laura's Uncle reveals secrets about Laura's family and the strange island he lives on.
But one day Laura's curiosity about the mysterious island goes a bit too far and too soon for her to know.
On her way to find out the secrets she meets a new friend and gets a dog, no ordinary dog, which has an amazing but upsetting background.
Every day a new secret is revealed and Laura finally finds out that there is part of the island called Dead Man's Cove!
Ages ago smugglers used to have their hide out there, but then it was blocked and people were not allowed to go in until Laura finds out there are still people secretly using for money!
Laura with the help of her uncle, friend, and dog solve the mystery and find out the true secret of the island.
If you are a fan of Enid Blyton, you MUST read this book. It includes adventure, mystery, and a whole lot of drama. My must-read of the year.
