I really enjoyed this fiction book, it was based around the war giving an insight to what happened during these times and allowed you to understand how scary and brave the characters were. A great book for educating children in this area.

There is war going on and two boys need to evacuate but their parents do not. They have now been evacuated and now need to be in a new family. The two boys (Tucky and David) now are safe but then it is a couple of days went by and the war is approaching them.

This book taught me that it doesn’t matter where you are from, you should always help people. David and Tucky are English evacuees who help two German soldiers. It helped me think what would have happened if the Allies hadn’t won the war and we visited the Imperial War Museum. I wanted to keep on reading because the plot really gripped me.

I thought that friend or foe was a interesting, adventurous and amazing because when i read it it made me feel interested and and adventurous.

My favorite character was David a boy in the story.

What interested me was that when David and Tucky saw the German ship and when they found the Germans when they went down to the moor and another part was when they took the wounded German to MR Reynolds because he wanted to be taken to prison.

I would recomend it to my friend because it is a good book.

The main character which is david seems to be very nice.
He is very sad in leaving his mum to go to Devon. But his new family is very nice and help him .At the end it was very nice of david and tucky to help a nazi soldier even though they were the opposite team.

Nice quick story that will be good to support a WW2 topic. Helps to humanise the Germans and also shows a relatable side to the war. Well written and easy to follow.

Thoughtful book with insight into family relationships and the relationships children have with their friends. Challenging ideas if not a particularly challenging read. Aged well.

Enjoyed reading a story set in our local area. Tells of two evacuees from Devon who find a stranded German pilot and the dilemma they face in reporting him to the authorities. Great text for exploring the issues around thoughts we might have over different nationalities to ourselves and how they can be changed. Also great link for any class studying world war two.

Gentleness with not so gentle dilemas and feelings. Good handling of the conflicting feelings of the main characters. Will be reading this to my Year 4 class in November so we can think of all the people who will be remembering those who died in the war.
Definitley recommend this book.

It is factual and it was fun to read.

David and Tucky, 2 boys who were London evacuees. They were sent to the countryside to live with a man and his wife. The man was a look out in the village for enemy bombers and was able to warn everyone else. His wife looked after the boys but one day David and Tucky and their dog went into the woods where they thought they saw a German plane crash but nobody believed so they were going to prove it. They did find the 2 German pilots but didn't hand them in. One was hurt and the other was looking after him. In the end only one was able to discuss the injured pilot had to be taken captive and David and Tucky were able to reunite with their mother.

I would recommend this book to people who love WWII.

this is kind of true. It describes what life was like during the war. I like the boys. It makes me think of my friends. I feel sad when no one comes to take them in.

I liked Mr Reynolds the best because he was very kind to Tucky and Davey.
