Long acknowledged as a classic text on strategy, Sun Tzu’s The Art of War has been admired by leaders as diverse as Mao Zedong and General Norman Schwartzkopf. However, written two thousand years ago, the book can be somewhat daunting to the modern reader. Now Mark McNeilly, author of Sun Tzu and the Art of Business, which made Sun Tzu accessible to the business executive, has extracted the six concepts most applicable to modern warfare, making them easy to understand and apply to military situations. Drawing on a wealth of fascinating historical examples, McNeilly shows how these six principles might be used in wars of the future-both conventional wars and terrorist conflicts-and how they can provide insight into current affairs, such as the war on terrorism and China’s increasingly important strategic and military role in the world. In the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, McNeilly has written a new chapter for this paperback edition, which addresses how Sun Tzu’s ideas can be applied to the war on terrorism. He also describes how to win the information war, how to lead by example, and how to use alliances to defeat the opponent.
Including the full text of The Art of War in the popular translation by Samuel Griffith, with cross-references to quotations used in the book, Sun Tzu and the Art of Modern Warfare unlocks these elusive secrets for anyone interested in strategy and warfare, whether they are professional soldiers, military history buffs, or business executives.

My review upon this author is truly well thought out and demonstrated details with great analytical and evaluate every aspect how Sun Tzu would have displayed that would coherently matches with the real world situation coming from the Chinese history during the Era of BC time likewise Qin Dynasty.

I strongly feel and have read from variant sources coming from relevant website like Britannia, History, and etc that Sun Tzu uses his strong literacy skills to record his words, in contrast upon every time he uses research primary skills most often and gathers them between his other commanders to further advance his knowledge by writing them on the book. Furthermore the vast amount of experience he had been being worked and lived for his ambitious role that lead him to build Wisdom that others would find it hard to be comprehensible in a meticulous pattern. That is during the time China had invented paper from tree fibres for the use of recording information in the form of calligraphy.

It shows he has a strong sense of reflection from most others may not have thought of writing who are coming from the military background when most of them don't have strong literacy skills.

Sun Tzu does have strong awareness and knowledge in the use of logistic to support his army when they are in need to win the war. Furthermore as taught that if the war prolonged then majority of the time, the army will not be motivated. However, it could be a leverage if it is used in a careful planning procedures like "If the enemy is taking his ease, he can harass him; if well supplied with food, he can starve him out; if quietly encamped, he can force him to move." as this would be a form of opening opportunity in creating the enemy weakness. He has a strong sense of awareness that if the army is showing the sign of being hungry or thirsty then they are not managing the military protocol very well but in most cases he had solved the arising problem all throughout.

The Author elaborate plan worked very well with the content and includes the evidence from the Founder of the art of war book. For instance, the use of deception would hinder the enemy, Find the enemy strengths super-abundant and where it is deficient referring to their weakness but it could also be learnt in how it was developed; creating the possibility of knowledge that could be efficient to be used for the next warfare.

Take your time to read it but read it carefully words for words like your almost studying for the military career, that if you are going to follow that passion, therefore overall do enjoy reading it, it would make you see how great individual build create wisdom that we could learn from.
