Read the HILARIOUS books that inspired the HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON films!
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third is a smallish Viking with a longish name. Hiccup’s father is chief of the Hairy Hooligan tribe which means Hiccup is the Hope and the Heir to the Hairy Hooligan throne – but most of the time Hiccup feels like a very ordinary boy, finding it hard to be a Hero.
When a huge, six-and-a-half-foot floating coffin with the words BEWARE! DO NOT OPEN THIS COFFIN arrives, can you guess what happens next?
The Quest to discover the treasure of Hiccup’s ancestors begins and Hiccup needs to find it before Alvin the Treacherous gets his hands on it. But when a dragon called the Monstrous Strangulator is thrown into the mix, things are about to get seriously SCARY.
How to Train Your Dragon is a major award-winning DreamWorks film series. There is also a new live action movie due to be released in 2025. The TV series, Riders of Berk, can be seen on CBeebies and Cartoon Network.

I love the book. It has a lot of funny scenes personally I think hiccup was my favourite character because of his smart plan at the end.
I think that Alvin’s plan was noticeable as soon as the hooglins open the coffin.
Grimard the ghastly booby traps were incredible.
I think the funny way the author interrupted the Vikings suited them well.
I recommend this book to everyone!
I enjoyed how adventurous it was, and that snoutface did not find the treasure. Fish legs and hiccup did and they kept it a secret!
I wouldn't really recommend it because it's quite scary.
I loved it.
I loved it when they got stuck in the cabin and faced the strangulator!
It was very funny and told you a bit about the vikings.
I particularly liked the part where the book teaches you how to do some sword fighting.
Another funny storyline. Alvin the Treacherous made a great villain.
Hiccup is set a pirate-training programme. Outcasts destroy and sink his ship. Underwater, Hiccup and his friend find a secret treasure cavern and nearly get poisoned by a Strangulator'.
As good as the first
I liked it because the people shouted!
I love the mystery of the quest that Hiccup is on even though he doesn't know it. The character 'Alvin the Treacherous' is thought of very well because he was treacherous from the beginning.
The book was informative of the native history of Vikings, fiction of not. I'd recommend in to anyone of reading age.
I think it is hillarious when Toothless poos in Alvin's helmet and the Strangulator is one of my faverout parts!
I liked the part when Hiccup discovers he is left handed and, in future, will be a master sword-fighter.
Just brilliant, love this series… waiting for the next one.. highly recommend.
I like it because it’s about how Hiccup proves he is a good Viking
