I like this book because it was written well with lots of detail. I didn't like the end because the lion wasn't real. I would still recommend this book to someone else.
Amazing beautiful read.
This book can be pretty sad at moments but still amazing. I love all the characters. I thought the idea of having a white lion rather than a regular, gold lion was interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to year 4 / year 5 students.
It a very nice book and I highly recommend it.
A brilliant story, it made me sad and happy and I really couldn’t put it down.
I won’t spoil the story for others but if I could give it 10 I would!
The best Michael Morpurgo book I’ve ever read!
I loved it!
I would totally recommend it.
I liked this book- the story was exciting but sad at the same time. My favourite character was Bertie.
I really liked this book. It was a bit sad and an emotional book but it was good because I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. There weren't many pictures but when there were they helped me picture it in my head. I learned some facts about Africa. I would recommend it to people who like animals and adventure.
I loved this story about a brave boy who never gave up on his dreams .The boy grew up in Africa and soon became great friends with a lion ,who he would later save from death.
it was really nice book. especially when the boy finally reuites with his friend ! i recommend this book to people that like animals.
It's about a boy at boarding school. He doesn't like it. He escapes. He meets some old lady and then she gives him yea and biscuit. He sees Butterfly lion and he asked what is that? The old lady said it's the butterfly lion.
Interesting, satisfying, but extremely short!
It was a typical Michael Morpurgo book-it had the usual ending; sad but yet happy and mysterious. I really liked this book and would recommend it to children 8+ (and adults)!
Some of it was sad but it was a cute book to read. I would recommend it to others
I love plot twists. at the end, the spirit of the old lady came, i wonder, hoe did the old lady drive him back to school, or how did he eat the scones? This is full of surprise, and the feeling inside Bertie is just amazing!
Quick read
Very sweet story and I enjoyed reading through it quickly.
Themes of grief, adventure, boarding school.
Personal journey.
I liked this book. My favourite character has got to be Bertie, because he faced his fears and went to war, and when he stood up to his parents and let The White Prince free. I especially liked the plot twist at the end hen it was revealed that Millie, the old woman, was actually dead and all in the narrator's mind!!! I recommend this to animal lovers, especially lion lovers!
A mixture of really nice and really sad. The white lion is my favourite. I would indeed recommend this book it really fills in my heart
I thought this was really good.
This is a story about a young boy who rescues an orphaned lion cub. Bertie goes to boarding school and the lion is sold to a circus. Bertie promises that one day they will see one another again. The story is narrated by an interesting individual.
Its very good.
This book deserves a 5/5 because it was about a little boy who raised a white lion cub and they got separated when the boy turned 8. I liked that the boy saved the white lion from the hyenas.
I enjoyed it a lot! It was tense in some parts and not in others. I loved the lion in the story.
It was a amazing book
I think Michel morpurgo loves animals
I enjoyed reading this book it was a new story of friendship and love with a pet lion.
I liked the happy ending and bertie was really nice and helpful and millie was very kind and helpful too.
I loved the WW1 story- the title didn’t lend itself to this - pleasant surprise. Lots of notes taken to question pupils thinking as will definitely use as a class reader
I was very interested about the end of this book as it was puzzling. I would like to know more about what happened to the old lady but still I really enjoyed it.
