The Midnight Club:
This book is about 5 terminally ill young people who meet up at midnight and tell each other stories.
As a reader, I enjoyed the fact that we got a chance to read each story that the characters told each other, making us feel like observers of the midnight club. Their stories paralleled what was going on in their lives and reflected their hopes, dreams, and sometimes their regrets. It also has religious connotations.
It is a different genre to what I normally read, but I saw that it is going to be adapted for Netflix and I was intrigued. I will also watch the Netflix programme to see how the adaptation compares to the book.
I did find some of themes such as “past lives” hard to grasp, hence the 3/5 score, however it is still a good read for its thought provoking aspects.
