Christopher is 15 and lives in Swindon with his father. He has Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism. He is obsessed with maths, science and Sherlock Holmes but finds it hard to understand other people. When he discovers a dead dog on a neighbour’s lawn he decides to solve the mystery and write a detective thriller about it. As in all good detective stories, however, the more he unearths, the deeper the mystery gets – for both Christopher and the rest of his family.

This is the second book I have reviewed written from the perspective of a neurodiverse character, and it fascinates me! I love Christopher's character, and the way that he knows all of the coolest facts and prime numbers. I would recommend it as a murder mystery, but it does contain swearing.

A Mystery novel which is narrated in the first-person perspective by Christopher Boone, a 15-year-old boy who is described as a mathematician with behavioural difficulties (Asperger Syndrome).

The book uses prime numbers to number the chapters, rather than the conventional successive numbers.

Overall, a rich and poignant story about a young, brave autistic boy being an outsider and seeing the world in a surprising and revealing way.

The book ends with Christopher optimistic about his future with his golden retriever puppy!

I want to give this book 100 stars because it was so epic.

A decided to re-read this book, having read it many years ago. This time, with a lot more experience of being a teacher, I was able to empathise with and understand how Christopher both perceived the world, and how the world perceives him. I found the deep understanding of his father so heart-warming.
I would say, however, that the book has dated and would be harder for today's teenagers to relate to, with references to using a phonebox etc. It does promote empathy. Do point out the reasoning behind the chapter numbers if using with students! I could see how you could use small excerpts in Maths lessons due to the logical explanations of concepts

Good bedding but towards the end was a bit long.

I really loved it and I enjoyed seeing it from Christopher's view, it's an interesting but fascinating book almost. I would love to have the gift of not knowing what happens in the book so I could read it again. There was so much attention to detail in this book. I have so much more to say about this book but I would so recommend it to everyone I know (apart maybe young children), it was so good.

An excellent read for young adults. I loved that it was from a different perspective to a lot of other books.

I think it was mysterious and quite tragic. The main character was quite smart and brave. I recommend this book greatly!

I was going to read this book but i was flicking through the book before I read it, and I saw very bad language so I ended up not reading it.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time was a book I found hard to understand. There were a lot of lengthy explanations about simple things and it got a bit boring reading them. However I did enjoy the storyline and the suspense.

I loved this book, the plot was gripping and had me wondering what was going to happen next. As there is some profanity I would recommend it to a 10+ audience.

I enjoyed this title greatly as it was intriguing to see the perspective of a person who sees the world differently. It was interesting to gain an first person insight of Christopher's thoughts and feelings about various objects/topics. This book was filled to the brim of adventure and mystery whilst still keeping in touch with reality separating it from the commonplace fantasy stories.

My favourite character was most definitely Christopher as he was able to learn how to cope with stress as the story progressed. He also did a multitude of actions that were a great struggle for him and often hurt him. These include talking to strangers on his street, searching Ed's room and embarking on a solo trip to London to live with his mother, Judy.

This book did not have the happiest ending possible. I liked how the author wrote the ending as it still keeps in touch with reality as I said before. Most fictional books have a fantastic ending that no child could ever think of- not this one though.

I would recommend this book to practically every person around my age group searching for an adventurous read that you cannot put down. In fact, I often consider myself to be a slow reader taking weeks to finish a book. However, I finished this one in four days!

This is a very mysterious, exciting and twisted story. It is about a young boy who is the determined to find the murderer of a dog who belongs to his beloved friend and cook Mrs shears. He finds out that his father is the murderer and decides to run away and go and live with his mother. Before discovering the letters from his mother in his fathers shoebox the young boy named Christopher thinks that his mother is dead because he is told so by his father. His father find out that he has gone to live with his mother and her boyfriend Mr Shears. Later his mother gets kicked out of Mr Shears's house because of Christopher And decides to live with Christophers father until they get a home of their own. To apologise Christopher's father bough Christopher a dog. Christopher named the dog Sandy and he and Sandy made very good friends. Christmas Father tried to please him with many more presents and slowly the son and father bonding began to grow stronger his mother liked the change and they both decided that even though they'll stay in a separate house they'll all be friends forever. I recommend this book to everyone to make them understand that making a big mistake can always be erased by deciding to do something nice for others.

I really enjoyed seeing the world through the eyes of a person with Aspergers, everything was explained so clearly, it made sense. Some upsetting scenes dealt with sensitively. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in people or detectives.

I thought this book gave insight into how life is for people with autism. My favourite character was Christopher because it was interesting to see how he thought.

30 Aug 2021

I do not know if it if fiction or factual but it is an amazing book, it is nearly 300 pages and would always recommend.

13 Aug 2021

The language in this book was appalling, which spoilt my enjoyment of this book, which was a shame as the plot was good. I loved that the pages were numbered with prime numbers!

13 Aug 2021

I had re-read this but still found it as intriguing as before even though I knew what the curious incident was. I enjoy the main character and his struggles with life are relatable.

12 Aug 2021

I really liked this book and it kept me turning the pages. It was very moving and very suspenseful. At first I thought that Mrs Alexander might be the murderer because she seemed to be acting strangely, and when it was revealed that the murderer was Christopher's dad I was very surprised because he seemed like a nice, trustworthy person. When it turned out that he was behind both of the mysteries, I could understand why Christopher chose to run away, and I think it was the right decision, even though his father and the police officers thought differently. I would definitely recommend this book as it is very very good.

02 Aug 2021

It was interesting but it was a bit wordy.
The main character was a bit stupid because he over reacted to everything.
There was a bit of a twist in the story which was unexpected.
i would have preferred a better ending.
i would probably recommend it to someone else.

17 Aug 2020

I found the book an interesting read as it was written from the point of view of the main character in the first person. It's not a book I would choose to read myself but I enjoyed reading a different genre.

31 Jul 2020

It was really good.
It gave me pause to think about the issues brought up within the storyline.
