Elena is cool, blond and slender. Always in control, no boy has stirred her innermost feelings – until she meets Stefan. He, however, is hiding the terrible secret that he is really a vampire, and although drawn to Elena, he fears that his passion for her may demand the ultimate gift of love.

I liked the character damion the most because of his cool and cold attitude. It gives the reader a sort of interesting feeling like they want to find out what he does next.
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. It's quite similar to Twilight
I decided to give this a go because I unashamedly love the TV show. It is so strange at first to be reading about a blonde hair, blue eyed Elena. I’m fact most of the descriptions of the characters are totally different to what you expect! The storyline is very much like the show but not much really happens in the first book and you hardly get to know the characters at all, especially Damon. I might give the second book a go.
I enjoyed reading the book and the concept of romance between 2 different people was a realistic view on the world
I think this book is worth all the time you spend reading it.
Love this book I am team #delena
The protagonist Elena has to be the most unlikeable characters I have ever encountered, which made half of the book unbearable as the plot wouldn't really develop. The writing style is also very very flat! Because of this I couldn't form any attachments at all, wasn't able to understand the thoughts behind the actions and the characters relationship. The author repeatedly makes the fatal mistake of telling without showing, which really didn't help. Given all this it might still interest younger readers (12?).
I did like seeing a young adult vampire romance from before Twilight and enjoyed the flash back scenes.
All in all I wouldn't rate this series very high, the storyline was eventually acceptable but the 4 books could've fit into one, and with the hype around the series I expected more. It is however a very quick read.
