Itchingham Lofte – known as Itch – is fourteen, and loves science, especially chemistry. He’s also an element-hunter: he’s collecting all the elements in the periodic table. Which has some interesting and rather destructive results in his bedroom. Then, Itch makes a discovery. A new element, never seen before.

I think even if Itch gave the gave the stones away I am even more interested about who helped him. I liked Itch the best because he was the main character and I like main characters the best and yes I would recommend this book to someone else who likes adventure story's.

Great book about an element hunter, which really brings many characteristics of Chemistry and other aspects of Science to life. Even if you don't like Science, it is a great book to read!
I really liked this book. It was funny and exciting. As Anthony Horowitz put it "You'll be Itch-ing for more"! I recommend to kids and especially boys that are 10+.
A great book. A fast paced story that keeps you guessing. Even if you are not keen on science as long as you enjoy adventure, the thought of getting one over on the teachers this could be the book for you. Itch's mum is far more understanding than many, and there aren't many hobbies that can make people so very sick. Well worth a read and I look forward to reading book 2.
It was very crippling and interesting read
Shocked me at first but you get used to it! I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was a little older. To be honest I was a nine year old girl reading a 14+ book! Was obsessed with the TV series though.
I liked this book because the story was engaging. It especially interested me as I am a fan of science books, so the story about element 126 was very nice.
I would recommend this book to anyone else who likes science books and to anyone who likes a fast-paced story.
Itch was excellent storytelling - a really normal kid in a James Bond type role. One for the school kids heroes book lovers.
I especially liked the Science elemental details that added that nice nerdy touch that makes the character believable.
This is an amazing book! It is so good! My favourite character was Itchingham because he solves every problem with science. I love science and I loved this book. I would very highly recommend this book.
I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. It was very exciting and heroic adventure. It was also a bit scary.
It was certainly a page turner.
This was a refreshing read. Totally bonkers and not what I expected. I liked the character of Itch, as he was strange and invited the reader to wonder what on earth he would try to collect next. I found it intriguing how he was collecting all of the scientific elements yet his actual collection was so very strange.
I don't normally choose Science Fiction, but was trying to find texts that appeal to some of my class who struggle to find something they can ge their teeth into. I was not disappointed. The subject matter (scientific elements) was fascinating and Simon Mayo has managed to craft a thrilling adventure that plays like an action thriller. It was certainly gripping, and the main character Itchingham Lofte was instantly likeable. I will be recommending this story and its sequel to my class.
A very exciting read - the main character Itchingham Lofte is a nerdy lad who collects elements. He buys a rock, of unknown origin, from one of his regular suppliers and all hell is let loose. It appears he has Element 126. There are crazy science teachers, international criminals and MI5 all trying to relieve him of his strange bit of rock.
A fast paced, nail-biting thriller.
Really exciting

This is a book about an element hunter named Itch who is trying to collect the entire periodic table. He buys a rock off a mineral seller named Cake and little did itch know that rock might just be the most powerful stone in the history of the earth.

An amazing book that helped me learn without me even noticing and gets me interested in the side topic of the book. I liked Jack from the book she is a confident and fun character that I always enjoy reading about. I recommend to anyone ready for an adventure and a thrilling story!!
This is a fiction book. It isn’t a descriptive type of book but it has a very complex plot involving elements. It is best for age 9-12.
I liked this book because I like action and adventure books and I also like science
Itch is the best book ever! It is written incredibly well. It is one of the only books that gets me so hooked that I am constantly reading it! Give it a try!
really good book shoughd make new book
Love chases
Once again, I enjoyed this book thoroughly and am now on the second one in the series. You should definitely read this wonderful book. :)
You should read this book only if you are a science lover beacause it is all about the periodic table of the eliments and other science stuff. More aimed at 11+. enjoiment but takes a bit of understanding
It is a very good read and I would recommend this to sci fi lovers as it is an amazing debut by Simon Mayo and from what I know about his style of writing I think he will do well in book writing and I would love to read more of his books! =-)
Itch by Simon Mayo is about Itchingham Lofte, nicknamed Itch, a boy who's goal in life is to collect all the elements of the Periodic Table. His problems begin when his supplier, a man named Cake, gives him a never before seen element. The 126th element Itch possesses in the form of 7 rocks could fuel up to 100 nuclear reactors, resulting in numerous people and companies trying to forcefully acquire them. Amongst them, Dr Nathaniel Flowerdew, Itch's own science teacher.
Being a science geek I love the idea of collecting all the elements, my mum not so much, especially the radioactive ones!
I found Itch to be an amusing character although I could relate more with Jack, his tomboyish cousin who was more practical and streetwise.
The book was well written and easily read although a knowledge of the periodic table would be helpful. Despite the start of the story being quite slow as characters were introduced, once the plot was underway the action began with Itch, Jack and a helpful Professor of Geography battling the evil Dr Flowerdew and Greencorps Power Company.
A great stand alone read although I'm "itching" to read the sequel, Itch Rocks!
