In Boys Don’t Cry, bestselling author Malorie Blackman explores the unchartered territory of teenage fatherhood.
You’re waiting for the postman – he’s bringing your A level results. University, a career as a journalist – a glittering future lies ahead. But when the doorbell rings it’s your old girlfriend; and she’s carrying a baby. Your baby.
You’re happy to look after it, just for an hour or two. But then she doesn’t come back – and your future suddenly looks very different.
Malorie’s dramatic new novel will take you on a journey from tears to laughter and back again.

A fantastic read. Dante had his life all planned out and then he got lumbered with a child and all the plans had changed. Liked the fact that his brother has been hiding a secret about being gay from his father and Dante. I liked the way the story was structured
Dante has his life mapped out. It’s the morning of his A level results where he is expecting top grades and a ticket to university. Unfortunately, the door bell rings and it’s not the postman. Dante’s life is about to change forever.
A book full of revelations and fear but also honesty, forgiveness and hope.
What a fantastic read!
The two character narrative was engaging, the storylines very well explored and great depth.
An exploration of teen pregnancy from the perspective of 'Dad' is something I haven't seen before, and the difficulties faced in the family as a result were touching and, at times, heartbreaking.
I would certainly recommend this book to students in my LRC, and now intend to read more of Blackman's work.
Loved it.
The two main characters are brothers and the chapters alternate between their points of view. The book deals with some interesting challenges facing some young people today in an engaging way.
Family, masculinity, friendship, growing up, homophobia - a gripping and emotional read with so much to say about what it means to be a black man.
I thought it was a very interesting book with lots of action happening. My favourite character was Adam who was one of the major characters. I would definitely recommend this book to people because it's not only intriguing, but is very emotive and gives great ideas if you are writing a story in english. Malorie Blackman did an amazing job writing this book and if you like this book, I would recommend checking out some of her other books. Overall, Boys Don't Cry is an amazing book and I was intrigued every moment when reading this amazing fiction story.
