Henry misses his father who died a war hero. One day Mrs Beaumont lends Henry a camera for his school project. Henry is disgusted that he’s been put in a group with Jeffries, the son of a man who went AWOL, and Pip, who was born illegitimate; but he’s about to learn that tolerance and friendship are more important than social stigmas.

Love the characters - Uncle Bill, Mum, Gran, Mrs Beaumont and Mr Finch. The world of '50s cinema and the contrast between the visits to London and the seaside town of 'Stern'sea. Its about to come off the shelf in our library and is probably longer than most of our secondary students would read, but it kept me entertained and lovely to read another book by the author of Goodnight Mr Tom.
This book is full of action, love and mystery and you would never want to put the book down
