This was an unusual choice for me. I have to admit, despite having had Libby Page’s books recommended to me before, I hadn’t actually read any until now. Seeing it as rather more commercial, I would have reached past it towards the literary fiction shelves, but it was the perfect companion I needed to banish my post-holiday reading slump. Warm, charming and easy to settle into, it felt like a Richard Curtis rom-com wrapped up in a book, with emotion, humour, romance and plenty of feel-good moments.
I loved all the book references woven throughout the story. Spotting the different titles and little literary nods along the way added an extra layer of enjoyment. It’s the sort of book you can curl up with, switch off and simply enjoy. Without giving anything away — who doesn’t long for a happy ending sometimes?
So, having enjoyed this one, I’ll definitely be tucking away another Libby Page for relaxed reading on my next train or plane journey, or holiday.
