The second edition of this text includes four new chapters as well as revision of existing chapters, offering a fuller account of the interrelations between world and text, a more historical contextualized account of tragedy and an updated account of debates around the concept of postmodernism.
I haven't read many books on literary theory but this was really interesting and well organised. Rather than just defining 'isms' - theories were applied to different aspects of literature. The writing style was also accessible and surprisingly relatable.
