Reviews
This beautifully presented book hooks even the most reluctant of readers due to it's blend of line drawings and prose to tell the narrative. Anyone who has lost a parent or been involved in a fire may need warning in case of triggers as they are pinnacle to the plot. Characterisation is superb as are the many setting descriptions.
A truly stunning book that will stay in the hearts of many.
Good book
This is one of the best books I've ever read. I highly recommend it because it keeps you surprised at every turn.
This is a part novel, part graphic novel book about the son of a clock-maker who discovers a secret invention, which is a robot that can write.
This book is a combination of a written story and a picture book. The words that have been chosen for this book are all perfect and lovingly thought about. Also the pictures, which are so beautiful, give you a thousand inventive words at once even if you just take one glance.
I really think this is a good book for any type of reader.
I love papa George because he took Isabella and Hugo in which was so kind of him
the details in the pictures were amazing and the story of how he got a family is wonderful.
I enjoyed Huga trying to rebuild the mechanical man.
I loved how it had loads of pages and how it was about two real people.
This book was absolutely amazing!!
i really like the clockwork in the book
Its such a refreshing mix of illustration and story. Its a heavy book to read at night! and you would need a visualiser to really read it aloud to pupils so that they can really see the pictures and analyse them.
nice
amazing , creative and spectacular picture book and black and white pages
This book is ok
Mummy read to me and I helped with some of the reading. We loved the pictures
I loved the illustrations, they really helped bring the story alive. I recommended this book to my friend.
i love how hugo avolvse as a person
I loved the combination of beautiful drawings and written word. This would be a lovely book to share with a class. The way the story is moved on by the illustrations is impressive.
Nice
I loved how Isabel wanted to help Hugo and retrive it from Geoges
I loved this book because I enjoyed the beautiful illustrations and descriptive language. My favourite character was Isabelle as she shared my love and joy of books.
This book was all about Hugo Cabret and he lived inside the train station. He would go and check all the clocks and oil them before going and meeting a girl called Isabell. This was without the grumpy old man (who was actually Isabell's godfather.)there is a strange machine called an automata and he drew a strange picture. It was a picture from the film The Man On The Moon.At the end all is well and I would recommend it.I think I would prefer books with just words.
I thought this book was brilliant and I loved the pictures.
A magical story about a boy living behind the walls of a train station in Paris. Fixing the station’s clocks by day and rebuilding a rescued automaton by night to find out its secret message. The illustrations are beautiful and the links to old movies and cinema add to the mystery and glamour of the story. A story of secrets, friendship and finding your purpose. Loved it.
As i read this story i felt quite interested
I like that Hugo wasn’t a normal kid, he could invent stuff by the age of 5!
I’d recommend it to 8 year olds.
AMAZING!!
A cross between writing and cleaver pictures. Don't forget to read the illustrations.it was a brilliant tale about a clock maker, a magician, and a 12-year-old boy.
I very much enjoyed this book. I was slightly put off by the cover, because I'm not a fan of circus-like designs, but nope, I was wrong! This mystery book is amazing with some beautiful illustrations. My favourite character is Etienne, because he is rather mysterious and always looks on the bright side of things.
I loved this book so much I read it in under an hour. It’s simply brilliant. Etienne was my favourite character mostly because of his eyepatch and he worked at the cinema.
