The Horley Library Tuesday Reading Group (Bookworms) reviewed the book.

Overall the reaction to the book was very positive. A must read for book lovers.
The beginning was discombobulating with the story and writing style changing but soon settled into a lovely rhythm once the viewpoint had been established. (Possibly a prologue to orientate the reader?).
It was a surprise to find no one in the group likes poetry but even the poem sections were embraced as part of the spirit of the book.
One reader thought the beginning was going to be another version of At the Edge of the Orchard by Tracy Chevalier but it soon bloomed into something very different and unusually original.
Another reader really dislikes ghost stories but still enjoyed the book as part of the smorgasbord of stories.
Technically the writing was beautiful in all the different genres, the author had polished every line, the historical research and detail was excellent and the weaving of fragments from one story into another was exceptionally executed.
An intriguing and clever original storytelling and will seek out other titles by the author. Highly recommended to book lovers.
