‘A writer of comic genius – he has something of Roald Dahl’s magic, but more heart’ – Sunday Telegraph
No matter how big the show – family, friendship and adventure shine through in The Wonder Brothers by multi-award-winning author Frank Cottrell-Boyce, illustrated throughout by Steven Lenton.
Cousins Middy and Nathan love magic. The on-stage, cape-swirling, bunny-out-of-a-hat kind.
For Middy, it’s all about patience and practice. She uses magic skills to help her out of tricky situations.
Nathan is a show-off and a total danger magnet, he is drawn to the sensation, spectacle and audience.
So when the famous Blackpool Tower dramatically vanishes the night of the Grand Lights Switch-On, showman Nathan announces live on TV that they will magic it back home.
With a stick of rock, a spangly cape, and a bit of misdirection, they end up lost in Las Vegas, home to the grand master of illusion, Perplexion, ‘Legend of Magic’.
Full of tricks, twists and deceptions, the delightful Nathan and Middy will keep you guessing until the very end.

This book is all about magic it's so ingenious and entertaining it makes you wonder how on earth Frank Cottrell-Boyce does it.For people you want to learn magic read this book
I loved how they almost went all around the world
This is a fiction book and my favourite character is Brodie.
This book was really good. I only chose 4 stars because at the start they didn't talk about the actual story. They were just telling me random things. But I loved middy she was my fav character. Would defo recommend
A lovely book
This book is really funny because how suddenly something unusual happens with out them knowing how it happened. My favourite character is Queenie the toddler sized rabbit because every time she finishes volunteering in the wonder brothers’ show she’ll bow at the audience. I really recommend this book.
‘You don’t make magic. You find it.’ So says legendary magician Karabas the Modest. And find it this plucky trio do in Frank Cottrell Boyce’s laugh out loud new chapter book. Meet Nathan, Middy and Brodie (not forgetting Queenie of course, Brodie’s giant rabbit). They are amateur magicians looking for their big break when it comes in the form of Blackpool Tower disappearing! This leads them on a madcap adventure to Las Vegas on the trail of world famous magician, Perplexion and his assistant Zenith. Once there, they talk and trick their way out of a series of hilarious situations (think nuns on the run, an exploding lunchbox and lunch on a rooftop Camelot inspired hotel). The beauty of this story is in the banter and one liners of the characters - it is cheeky and kids and adults alike will love it. The story is told from the point of view of each character and (also the US cop who interviews them). Each character has their own personality from the streetwise and serious student of magic, Middy to the responsible and rabbit loving Brodie and then there’s Nathan. Nathan - ‘he’s mostly ok but can be a bit of a flapjack sometimes’ - is my star of the show here. In his top hat with his pockets of props, he is a fine magician with a wild, impulsive side and I love him for it! ‘Saying no razzmatazz to our Nathan is like saying no swimming to Mr Nibbles the Goldfish. Razzmatazz is how Nathan moves.’ This book will be loved by young and old alike and will spark a love of all things magic after reading. Have already ordered a copy for my classroom! Go and buy it!
