Helen:
'This book was very upbeat despite the main subject being grief and how the various characters coped with it. I thought the characters were interesting and their back stories came through really well. I liked seeing how the characters changed throughout the book especially Lady V and Molly. My favourite character was Uncle John- I enjoyed his organisation of people and his personality!'

Heather:
'This book is perfect for someone who wants a light read! It was very funny and had a host of great characters. Lady V was my favourite character and her determination to not grow old resonated with me! The family gathering sections I found hilarious and the book really did make me smile!'

Laura:
'This book is a story of family ties and connections which explores grief and it's effects on a family. It is an easy reading novel with a range of characters. My favourite character was Lady V as she such a strong female.'

Rose:
'I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did; I had judged the book as being 'too light' but I really enjoyed the story and the humour with which it is told. I mostly enjoyed the theme of family and how the family stories all linked together and I particularly liked them all coming together especially Lady V towards the end. My favourite characters were Uncle John and his love of AGM's and stationary and Uncle Danny. I really felt connected to Uncle Danny and the journey he goes on- he's a mostly quiet character but his quietness in the book really brings you a sense of who he is. It was a very uplifting read and I will definitely be recommending to members of the Library.'

Lizzy:
'This book made me feel happy and upbeat! the thing I liked most about the book was the characters; Lady V trying to stay young, Uncle Danny the recovering alcoholic and my real favourite was Annabelle with her larger than life, theatrical character. I liked the flashbacks of her singing Abba in the car. The only theme is grief but it is handled in a loving way- it doesn't feel too deep but it does handle this theme well. Family (and chosen family) is very central to the book; my favourite character was Best Friend B- he had lots of funny lines and I enjoyed his relationship with Molly and with Bobby towards the end of the book. I think Uncle Danny was the unsung hero of the book overcoming alcoholism and 'finding himself' in Thailand. I would recommend this book to someone after a light/holiday read!'
