Jessica Jackson has hit all her personal milestones for turning thirty – the career, the loving boyfriend and a cosy London flat they share with their cat. But a shock diagnosis of breast cancer turns Jess’s world upside down, and her contented life implodes with it.

Around her, her friends’ lives continue to follow the script, with the big white weddings and the baby scans. With her own future so uncertain, the only thing Jess is sure of is that she’s being left behind.

But then she meets Annabel, an enigmatic twenty-seven year old with incurable cancer. While Annabel may not have long left, she understands much more about living than anyone Jess has ever met. And she’s determined to show Jess how to make every day count . . .

This book was very much a slow burn for me, and it was only seeing the many positive reviews that I continued to read it. I am glad I did, as once I got started again I didn’t want to put it down. It was heartfelt and funny at times. The attention to detail made it feel genuine - you learn at the end of the book that it was the author’s own experiences that informed her writing. A very good read.

A well written book tackling the effects of a cancer diagnosis on Jess the main character and the way this woman's life is turned upside down.
Jess meet another woman who is at the end of her life and she teaches Jess how to live.
We see how friendship, work, family becomes affected by her diagnosis.
Although this sounds a sad depressing book it's actually a uplifting story, sad in places but you find yourself smiling and at times laughing.
Very good read.
