Meet Alex Neptune, the boy with the power of the ocean in his hands – a brand-new hero for fans of Percy Jackson and Dragon Realm!
For as long as Alex Neptune can remember, the ocean has been trying to kill him. So he’s not too happy when a bunch of sea creatures drag him to the abandoned aquarium on the hill, where an imprisoned water dragon needs his help. But how can he say no to a magical myth?
Recruiting his tech-genius best friend Zoey, legend-lover Anil, a sharp-shooting octopus, four acrobatic otters and a thieving seagull, Alex plots a heist to break the dragon out. And suddenly discovers the power of the ocean at his fingertips…

I really enjoyed this book because it is thrilling. The boy always thought the sea was trying to murder him…. but then he realises he has the power of the water in his hands and has to use it to save the bay.
Super super fun to read
A really epic book!
I loved this book but at some times I didnt enjoy it that much!
I would only just recommend this book. It was exciting in some parts but slightly boring in other areas of the book. My favourite character was Alex Neptune because he created a master plan to release the sea dragon and stuck to it. It interested me a bit because it was adventurous.
It was the best book I have read
It was quite interesting and I enjoyed it very much. And I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in escape, rescue and more adventure.
At the start of the book it was a bit boring so you didn’t really read it but later on it became more interesting and mysterious.
Enjoyable book - loved the eco theme mixed with fantasy. Definitely recommend - year 4/5
This book was quite funny but there was some blood in it. I like that there was a dragon in it and everyone learnt their lesson at the end of the story.
I would suggest this for 8-12 year olds.
Great humour and a novel full of ideas about friendship and mythology. Loved it.
I like the adventure
I love how exciting it is and how he’s scared of water
I like the otters and it is very adventurous he has a friend octupus
I like that at the end they protected the ocean
It's really nice. I got this book signed by the author. It wasn't a true story as it had sea monsters! I would recommend this book to people who enjoy adventure. If you haven't read go buy! NOW!
I liked this book because it has a lot of fantasy, legends and dragons in it. My favourite character was Kraken the Octopus because she is very funny and also very useful.
A great read for anyone who loves the ocean, sea creatures, as well has mystical creatures. It's a real story of overcoming a fear to do good for others, with some elements of conservation.
This was another easy read. I liked the idea of sea dragons and the other creatures such as the octopus and the otters helping. Another book that would make a good read aloud for story time.
This appears to be the first in a new series and it makes a change to read something that is aimed at yr4+ instead of upper KS2. Alex Neptune is not allowed near the sea as bad things tend to happen when he does. When they learn that the subject of a local legend is being held captive, Alex and his friends do their best to free it and help their town at the same time.
