This is the third Nicci French book I have read and I personally think is my favourite. I enjoyed the drama that ensued once Jude said yes to the favour and wanted to see what would happen next. It is a bit repetitive in places but I didn’t mind as it could be complicated to keep track in places.

I was really excited to read this book as I enjoy the "Frieda" books and I enjoyed the premise and writing. I did however think there were too many friends and that became confusing at times and I would have enjoyed a greater sense of place. I did enjoy the book but improving those elements would have increased this.

I thought this was a clever novel with great twists and very contemporary characters. I liked trying to understand the characters viewpoints and perspectives whilst trying to guess the outcome. It did seem implausible to begin with but made sense when the ‘twist’ came near the end. I’d recommend to those who like an accessible thriller.

What a page turner!
Everyone remembers the impulsive passion of their first love; imagine if your first love turned up and asked you for a favour. This is what happens to Jude when Liam turns up unexpectedly after 10 years of no contact and asks her to meet him in a remote cottage in Norfolk. Jude’s neat little life is then turned upside down as she tumbles through a series of shattering events with a cast of colourful and unpleasant characters. The authors create an increasingly sinister atmosphere which keeps you page turning until the end.

A thoroughly good read.
A favour asked and a favour given, although seemingly bizarre. As the story develops through the characters and plot, the reader starts to suspect and then understand why the favour was easily granted. A teenage car crash and the impact of it on the later lives of those involved reveals that life and relationships are not what they appear. This book is well written and the unravelling of lives well crafted. A thoroughly good read.
Dr Jude Winters has a good settled life, having trained as a doctor and planning her impending wedding to Nat. Suddenly after over 10 years with no contact, her first love reappears in her life asking for a favour. Naively and without questions she says yes and the consequences of this rash decision turn her world upside down. Chaos results and she meets some very unsavoury characters. Many twists and turns in this book keeping the reader enthralled and guessing until the end. I have never read a Nicci French novel but will be doing again.

A great thriller and fantastic read!
It begins with Jude who seems to have a great life as a doctor who is planning her wedding to Nat. But the tension arises when her first love comes back into her life and asks her to do ‘The Favour’.
By agreeing to the favour Jude’s life is soon turned upside down and she’s drawn into a strange new world filled with secrets, lies and ultimately a murder investigation.
You will find yourself screaming no at Jude and is a solid psychological thriller.

The book has you questioning how much you would do for someone you love?
Out of the blue Liam has tracked Jude to her place of work, he needs her to do him a favour. I didn’t want her to do the favour but then that wouldn’t be much of a story. The favour leads to twists, her meeting unsavoury characters and drama to keep you turning the pages. I’d recommend.

I enjoyed it and found it easy to read. It had an interesting premise and as a reader has you questioning what you would do in the situation and also questioning the Jude, the main character’s decisions. Great discussion with our group afterwards and some of us found it interesting to talk through whether some of the elements were believable. I understand her obsession with finding out what happened to Liam and as a reader you want to find out more. The twist was a good surprise.

An enjoyable and accessible thriller. Dr Jude Winters has a good life which is thrown into chaos when after 10 years, her first love reappears in her life asking for a favour. Naively and without questions she says yes. The book then deals with the consequences of this rash decision. There are many twists and I had no clue who the killer was.

I quite enjoyed it. I'm all for suspending disbelief, but most of the lead character's choices didn't ring true. However it was a good Nicci French book (I’m a big fan).
