Could not wait to pick it up each evening and then could not put it down. absolutely adore Howell's books.
Gripping, enticing and lots of cleverly thought plot twists. Although it is a novel, this book is very informative with lots of facts about our past.
We thoroughly enjoyed this book and can see this becoming a firm favourite with middle grade students. Set just after WW2, the story is skilfully wrapped around uncovering mysteries of hidden treasure and family secrets as well as finding new friends and coming to terms with the past. It was refreshing to have a WW2 book set outside of London for the most part and the tragic bombing of Norwich by the Luftwaffe was written with compassion and empathy. It opened up lots of conversation about WW2 and our own family who had been in London during the Blitz. Myself and my 10yo daughter really loved this book and we would highly recommend it to others.
It was imaginative and I'm glad it had something to do with the British museum
This book is set in the immediate aftermath of the second world war. The main theme is Archaeology. It is about a girl called Ruth who investigated someone's farm after they found treasure. I would reccomend it to people who like reading stories about mysteries, the war or treasure.
Amazing read as always from A. M . Howell . This book is full of bravery, determination and love from the families. I've loved reading all.of her books so far.
