The book was fun and I loved how there wasn't a dog thief like Ada first thought. It just goes to show that we shouldn't jump to conclusions and instead research and make plans.
Although this is book number 5 in the set, it can be read as either a one off or with the others, as there is no mention of previous mysteries.
I really liked how on page 38, Aaron stated he has dyslexia, it is nice for a story to include characters with Special Educational Needs without them being the main character or making their disability stand out.
I enjoyed how the storyline explained how to create a scientific research journey and then conduct research to see if your hypothesis is true or false. It is great way for children to learn that science is in everyday things that we do.
My favourite bit of the story was when Ada and her friends found all the pets in Ms Good's barn. The pets weren't stolen they just followed a trail of treats and then Ms Good thought they had been abandoned outside her house. A little miss understanding can lead to huge problem!
