I enjoyed this book,it is full of adventure. I would recommend it to anyone.
Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun is a very good book!
The plot was great and the character were also amazing
This book is the best
This is about a girl who has a superpower, which is to control her hair. She goes to an academy of magic in Nigeria.
it teaches about black culture schools and new superpowers
I don't know if I was going to say I don't like it but I LIKE IT it's sooo cool
Today I read this book and this is the first book that has made me use my imagination so much I am very impressed and grateful
I don’t know why I liked it. I just liked it.
I enjoyed this and wanted to broaden my horizons ensuring that I can recommend quality books by diverse authors.
The camaraderie between the Yeka and the other characters and how their friendships build was warming and realistic. I did struggle with some of the superpowers bits but don’t let my preference detract from a great book that will appeal to many KS2 children.
Didn't think Onyeka would be so cool!!!
Could be a bit shorter
It so good I love how it ends in a mystery
A really good book about accepting who you are and the power of friendship. This book is funny, awesome and completely unique!
It adds a hole new species of Human how are very interesting because they have powers.
Loved this! My favourite character was Onyeka and
Adanna
I love the way onyeka fought for the people and she also managed to save her brother I really loved how kind she was to everyone
A superhero whose power is in her hair, Pnyeka it an usual.girl trying to make sense of her family, culture and extraordinary hair. Good fun
Really enjoyable with a positive black female character. Suitable for top junior or lower secondary & similar to Percy Jackson series.
This felt very similar to Amari and the Night Brothers: superpowers, secret school, quest to find family members.
Set in a fictional UK and Nigeria.
I loved how Onyeka accepts and learns to love herself.
The glossary at the end is great
Good twists and turns. Cliff hanger ending, I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
interest age 8- 12
Onyeka has always battled with her unruly Afro hair but is astounded to discover that her hair holds a super power. She is whisked away to the academy of the sun where she meets other children with amazing superpowers. Here, she learns more about her own family and uncovers some more sinister goings on.
Fantastic fantasy book which is likely to appeal to fans of Percy Jackson but with a strong African theme.
I enjoyed this book, it was interesting. I loved the adventure story with the added excitement of superpowers.
Onyeka is a fiction book about Solari (like superheros). It has a lovely front cover which intrigued me but since it isn't really my genre I didn't particularly enjoy it. My favourite character is Adanna and I recommend this book to people interested in fiction and fantasy books.
Love her hair
This book is different to most books I read; it is an interesting tale in which Onyeka can control her hair with her mind.
I think anyone who enjoyed Amari and the Night Brothers might like this one and I am looking forward to the second in this series called Onyeka and the Legacy of the Solari.
Good fun action, X-men style. I can see that this would appeal to that age range and good to have Nigerian culture as a base.
Best book ever i like how every thing was a big mystery about her family
This was absolutely fantastic, it is now my favourite book. I did not think I was going to get a new favourite book for quite a while, but then I read this and it blew my mind. When Onyeka finds out she is Solari, she is shocked. Then Onyeka and her mum go on a search for her dad and she ends up at a Solari school where she makes new friends and enemy's.
This book is about a girl called Onyeka, who finds out she has a magical power, called an Ike. She goes to a magical school called The Academy Of The Sun. She makes three friends called Niyi, Hassan and Adanna.
