The latest mind-blowing novel from award-winning author Christopher Edge, Escape Room is a thrilling adventure that challenges readers to think about what they’ve done to save the world today.
When twelve-year-old Ami arrives at The Escape, she thinks it’s just a game – the ultimate escape room with puzzles and challenges to beat before time runs out. Meeting her teammates, Adjoa, Ibrahim, Oscar and Min, Ami learns from the Host that they have been chosen to save the world and they must work together to find the Answer. But as he locks them inside the first room, they quickly realise this is no ordinary game.
From a cavernous library of dust to an ancient Mayan tomb, a deserted shopping mall stalked by extinct animals to the command module of a spaceship heading to Mars, the perils of The Escape seem endless. Can Ami and her friends find the Answer before it’s too late?

I love that it has a lot of twists and turns. I think Min is my favourite character because she is very clever and thinks logically.
I love how this book ends a true story of friendship
I really enjoyed this book. I liked all the challenges they faced and reading about how they overcame them. The reason I rated it 4 star was because at the end when Ami is actually not real made it a bit unsatisfactory. I really liked this book and would definitely recommend
this to someone else aged 9-11.
Enjoyable!
Wow! What a book! Great characters and awesome description (including a brilliant one of a mysterious library I will use in other reading-based activities), plus a brilliant twist at the very end!
I would recommend this to any readers in Year 4 upwards, especially if they are into page-turning adventure stories with a hint of sci-fi too, and possibly gamers with a reluctance to read.
Can't wait to get my hands on the sequel, 'Escape Room - Game Zero'!
It’s a great book and it was quite an adventurous story. Everyone who likes a bit of action would like to read it .
Great adventure book and an amazing twist at the end.
I loved how they all talked together to make sure they knew what to do and ended up completing the games. I would recommend this book.
I recently read The Escape Room by Christopher Edge with my 10- and 7-year-old sons, and we were all completely hooked! From the very first page, the story pulls you in with its fast pace, puzzles, and unexpected twists. It's an exciting adventure that keeps you on your toes and makes you think at every turn. The characters are relatable, the challenges are clever, and the message at the heart of the story is powerful. A fun read for children and parents alike—we couldn’t put it down!
this book is basically about 5 children who are trying to escape . i love the characters and their personalities though it was a bit boring at the start it was very interesting at the end 9/10 for me
I think it was a very cool book and I like how it was based on an escape room. It was fun to read.
It's sad, adventurous and exciting
Ami, Adjoa, Oscar, Ibrahim and Min went to Escape Room. They were looking for The Answer to save the world. They solved some puzzles ,and in the end, they escaped the room. Ami found out that he had designed the escape room without knowing it. I like the book because the characters were very adventurous. I would strongly recommend it to you.
I love the drama. It was a bit of a shock but I loved it. I have the review sheet too. I do love a good mystery.
It was amazing and it was for gamers.
Hard to get a grip off and was a bit strange. However, it was still adventurous and Funny. The ending, however, I could not get a grip of. The book didn’t really make sense, so it was difficult to understand. If you were to read it, make sure you read it once or twice so you can understand it.
The book was very good to read but there weee some really sad parts. My favourite character was Ami. I would recommend reading this book if you like mystery and adventure.
This book is JAM-PACKED with twists and turns and all sorts of decoding , and when I say jam -packed I MEAN JAM-PACKED!!!If you like adventure and action you will love this amazing(and puzzling, obviously)book!
I enjoyed the book, it is full of mystery, puzzles and suspense. A good surprise at the end that you wouldn't be able to guess.
amazing
It was full of puzzles and tricks, which I liked.
I really liked this book because it was very mysterious and a very fun book to read.
Ami’s dad has booked what he believes will be the perfect gift for her to the Ultimate Escape Room. Ami arrives to an empty room and soon meets others who are to be her team mates in the game; Adjoa, Oscar, Ibrahim and Min. As the group of five strangers introduce themselves their host appears on a screen,
“Welcome to The Escape… I am the Host and you have been chosen to save the world… You are humanity’s last hope… I can only pray that you will succeed where we have failed… We need you to find the Answer.”
The game that follows as the team work through the various rooms is filled with danger and unexpected twists as they try to work together to find the answer.
Escape Room is a faced paced page turner of a book that I really didn’t want to put down, full of twists and turns, great characters and fantastic escape rooms, I was hooked. The characters are an interesting group and all bring different strengths and weaknesses to the story. The character of Ami is nothing short of genius, right from the beginning of the book she feels real and is easy to identify with however having read this book twice now I still don’t see the twisted end of who Ami actually is coming.
Christopher Edge’s writing is brilliant, he draws you into the plot leaving you wanting more, wanting to discover what exactly is going on in the game. A definite great read for upper key stage 2.
I enjoyed this book and liked the fast pace. I think it would appeal to KS2 and KS3. There was a clever twist too.
I thought that this book was really good, I rate it 4/5. The reason it is a 4 not a 5 because the ending was quite rushed I thought and it was a little confusing. I would definitely recommend though!
Didn’t realise that AMI was actually computerised until near the end. Enjoyed the Extinct clues the best
the taste of adventure is really atmospheric. it feels as if it is coming out of the book!
I like this book a lot because you never know what is going to happen next and it is a real spine-tingler. My favourite character is Tooey the wallaby because he's cute and always finds a way through. I recommend this book o anyone who loves a scary book with a side of mystery.
Very suspenseful, It is the one of the best books I have ever read!
I thought escape room was such an intense book but in a good way. It kept me on the edge and I enjoyed it a lot.
