Bexy Cameron grew up in the notorious Children of God cult, where the concept of family means something very different to what we are all used to. Determined to find peace, she set off on a road trip across America to explore the hold cults still hold today.
We all know that our childhoods can cast long, dragging shadows.
Devastating and shocking, this is a disturbing read. The fact that is a true story and someone's actual history is heartbreaking. The writing style did jump around a bit, with 2 parallel timelines, which I found slightly confusing at times. Given the subject matter of the book, I am loathe to say that I enjoyed it, but what I will say is that I found it incredibly moving.
